Addis Ababa – 304 Eritrean refugees have arrived in Shegerab refugee camp in Eastern Sudan between May 21 and May 29,2009, the Eritrean People’s Party (EPP) said.

In a statement it sent to WIC, EPP indicated that the influx of Eritreans entering Eastern Sudan is growing daily. According to the statement, 30 of the refugees recently rrived to the camp were children under five years while nearly 27 per cent of the 304 refugees are female. Since January 2009, the number of Eritreans who have sought political asylum in Eastern Sudan has risen to 9866.
