Ethiopia: Development projects nearing completion

Harar – Head of the Harari State Finance and Economic Development bureau announced that most of the 23 development projects carried out with close to 67 million birr in the state have been finalized.

Bureau head, Ahmed Abdush told WIC that the projects are carried out by nine kebele administrations and other government offices in the state.

The projects being carried out in the Harari state focused on road, water, housing, culture, health, agriculture, education, small and micro business, among others.

Close to 70 per cent of the projects meant to solve the socio-economic problems and strengthen infrastructural facilities in the state have already been finalized.

The head also indicated that in addition to the construction of over three kilometer roads, class room expansion works at the state’s health science college was also carried out.

Moreover, he said, the construction of the state’s health bureau office with two assembly halls and sports facilities is also fully finalized. While fully competed by the end of this year, the projects would benefit over 100, 000 inhabitants of the state, the head said.

Most of the 66.7 million birr budget for the projects was covered by the government.
