Ethiopia: Ministry working on tourism policy document

Harar – The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that it has designed a tourism policy document meant to efficiently utilizing the country’s tourism resource and is making preparations to get the document endorsed.

State Minister of Culture and Tourism, Tadelech Dalecho told WIC that the ministry has designed the policy document with a view to effectively improving the country’s tourism resources. The tourism policy document clearly identified tourist destinations that need to be renovated and developed. Moreover, the policy document also includes issues of development of infrastructure facilities around tourist destinations, the state Minister said. Tadelech further said that despite its huge tourism resource, the country has not yet benefited from the sector as the tourism resources were not developed well so far.

Accordingly, the State Minister said that the policy document is believed to significantly improve the tourism sector.
