Eritrea: Eritrea would strive for realization of CEN-SAD’s principles, action programs and African progress: Foreign Minister

Asmara – Foreign Minister Osman Saleh said that Eritrea would strive for the realization of the principles and action programs of the Community of Sahle-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), as well as promote all-round African development and unity.

He made the statement in a speech he delivered at the CEN-SAD Summit conference which was held in Tripoli, Libya from 29 to 30 May.

Stating that the weakness and ineffectiveness of the African Union (AU) is becoming an issue of growing concern, Mr. Osman pointed out that due to external interference, servant regimes and tools, the AU has not only become an obstacle to resolving African issues but also a camouflage for their getting ever more complex.

The Foreign Minister went on to say that the organs under the AU are becoming illegal and irresponsible. In this connection, Mr. Saleh indicated that the call by the organization’s so-called ‘peace and security council’ calling on the Security Council to adopt “sanctions against Eritrea” is a vivid demonstration of such a stance.

The fact that the illegal move lacked any substance whatsoever and was taken without consulting the current AU Chairman, Brother Muammar Al-Khadafi, attests to its illegality and reveals the real sponsors.

Earlier, the CEN-SAD Ministerial Council meeting in the Libyan Capital conducted discussion from 26 to 27 May on economic, social, political and security issues.
