Ethiopia: Universities urged to focus on producing skilled manpower, conducting researches
Dire Dawa – President of the Haromaya University said that higher learning institutions in the country should work hard in producing skilled manpower and conducting relevant researches to extricate the country from poverty.
Speaking at a meeting called to delibrate a one year performance of the Kersa demographic surveillance and research center, President of the University, Professor Belay Kassa said that higher learning institutions in the country should work hard in producing skilled manpower and conducting relevant researches to extricate the country from poverty. The Kersa demographic surveillance and research center was established in September last year with a view to enhancing the research capacity of the medical faculty of the university, realize effective health service and generate significant ideas for the decision making process of the university , he said.
The president indicated that similar research centers are available at the Addis Ababa, Gondar and Jimma Universities, adding that the research center at the Haromaya University would play an important role in generating current ideas for decision makers.
