Ethiopia: Zone launches construction of 20 health stations

Gedeo Zone, (Dilla) – Construction of 20 health stations has been launched in Gedeo Zone of South Ethiopia Peoples’ State at a cost of 24 million birr, zonal health department said.

Department head ,Wubishet Mekuria told ENA that the health facilities are being constructed with the fund earmarked by the federal and regional governments.

So far, some 75 percent of construction of eight stations has been finalized.

Health service coverage will reach over 95 percent when the facilities fully go operational . Number of health stations will also grow to 32.

He also said upgrading of Yirgachefe health station to district hospital is als well in progress.

The head said the public have been actively participating in construction of health facilities.
