Ethiopia: Oromia establishes youth federation
Adama – Youth in Oromia state pledged to take leading role in the fight against poverty. The Oromia youth federation was established on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion the youth said the establishment of the federation would enable them team up efforts for the economic growth of the state.
They said the federation would also help bring about good governance and ensure rights of the youth.
The federation elected 65 council members and 11 executives that lead the federation for the coming two years. Tarekegn Abduljobr was elected president of the federation.
Chairman of the Oromia Youth Association, Alemayehu Tulu said more than one million of the 7.3 million youth in the state were embraced under the federation.
Head of the Oromia Youth and Sports bureau, Tesfaye Tulu on his part said the establishment of the federation would enable the youth further strengthen development activities .
He finally called on the youth to fulfill commitment for the success of the federation.
