Climate Change May Cut East African Corn Output by 20 Percent

Rising global temperatures could reduce corn production in East Africa by as much as 20 percent within the next 40 years, the International Livestock Research Institute said in a report.

“Some places are likely to get hit by severe yield losses of even 20 percent or more,” Philip Thornton, co-author of the study, said in an e-mailed response to questions yesterday.
