Addis Ababa – Minister for Government Communication Affairs Office said press products have been flourishing in the country after freedom of the press has been ensured as part of building democratic system in the country.

The Minister, Bereket Simon said while attending an event called “Excellence in Journalism Award” ceremony held here on Wednesday that the print press has been flourishing since the last 18 years.

The award was organized by Foreign Correspondents Association for local print and photo journalists.

Association chairperson Emmanuel Goujon on his part said the award is the first of its kind to be given to journalists to encourage them.

Winners have been awarded laptop and professional camera.

French ambassador to Ethiopia Jean- Christophe Belliard on his part said journalists have been paying life sacrifices while doing their jobs at war fronts.

Public Affairs officer in the US embassy in Addis Ababa Michael Machellan on his part said his embassy has prepared the award to enhance the professionals’ carries of the journalists.
