Ethiopia: Youth said successful in food processing, leather products sector

Hawassa – Youth engaged in food processing and leather products business in Hawassa town said that they are registering encouraging results in their businesses.

The youth who are participating in the development expo 2001 organized by the Southern Ethiopia Peoples Development Association (SEPDA) told WIC that he youth can become successful if they get engaged in innovative activities.

Chairperson of the food processing association of the town, Adane Teka said that the food processing and leather products business have created employment opportunities for numerous unemployed people.

Similarly young people engaged in lather and leather products sector indicated that they are benefiting from their business over the last few years.

Chairman of the Haik leather and leather products association, Takele Tesfaye said that the youth have benefited from the sector due to the support they received from town’s micro and small business expansion agency.

Resource mobilization department head with SEPDA, Bekele Melese on his part said the agency is providing business and manufacturing places to the associations.

The agency is also working to create market links for the youth engaged in the food processing and leather products business.

Various local and foreign business people participated in development expo 2001.
