Ethiopia’s dictator to attend G8 Summit in Italy

Addis Ababa – Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi, is to attend the G8 Summit to be held in Rome, Italy representing the African continent, a senior Ethiopian government official disclosed.
Meles will be attending the G8 Session as per the invitation made by his Italian counterpart, Silvio Berlusconi, the official told journalists on Tuesday.

During the course of the session, Meles is expected to voice the cause of Africa, especially development assistance the African countries shall get from G8 member states in order to withstand the adverse effects of the current global economic downturn.

After receiving the invitation, Meles told the Special Envoy of the Italian Prime Minister, Prof. Luche Ricardo that G8 member states will promote the cause of Africa since it is clear and legitimate.

Prof. Luche commends Meles for accepting the invitation presented by the Italian premier.
