60 years of electric drum pumps – FLUX
In 1950 the world’s first electric drum pump was given the name FLUX. Under this company name an enterprise subsequently developed which can without doubt be considered a pioneer and market leader in the field of drum pump technology. The vision into the future has been the overriding perspective of FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH. However, in this anniversary year we happily take a look in the mirror – and discover some remarkable things.
It was in 1950 when the first electric drum pump was officially registered under the patent number 967 424. A success story a la Baden-Württemberg began.
In the period that followed, FLUX-GERÄTE GmbH – founded specifically for the purpose – quickly became market leader in the field of drum pump technology and distinguished itself from the start through products for a wide variety of applications, among which were many custom-made products for various branches of industry. For example, the model F 300 Ex embodied a genuine revolution- this first explosion-proof drum pump was approved by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB – Federal German Metrology Institute) in 1953 and is being further developed successfully right up to today.
From Maulbronn out into the world
At the beginning of the 60s, FLUX-GERÄTE became independent and moved the production more and more to the present production site in Maulbronn. In March 1962, Herbert Hahn took over the management of the company in which he had overseen innovation and entrepreneurial success for almost 40 years. Furthermore, Mr. Hahn won important sales markets on all five continents. In the 1980s, Herbert Hahn founded the first subsidiaries in the USA and UK then new markets followed in the 90s in for example Eastern Europe, Russia and China as well as in India.
The product range grew constantly and, in a kind of building block system, became increasingly differentiated in terms of performance and applications. On 1.1.2000, Herbert Hahn passed the operative business to his nephew, the present Managing Director Klaus Hahn. With the takeover of the Cologne company Sondermann Pumpen + Filter GmbH & Co. KG in 2005 and the founding of subsidiaries in France and the Netherlands, as well as a participation in Thailand, he reaffirmed FLUX GERÄTE as a world-wide operating business. As was so often the case in its history, the business also profited from a healthy mix of continuity and innovation – the best prospect for a further successful 60 years!
