It is sad to hear that the Jews whose ancestors suffered severe persecutions, discriminations, and humiliations under the Egyptians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Arabs, and the Germans could mistreat their other fellow Jews – the Ethiopians – just because they do not speak the Hebrew language, or they are simply Ethiopians, brown or dark skins. In fact, these Ethiopian Jews went to Israel to improve their lives, not to change their religion, because they had been already Jews. The other reason they left Ethiopia might be that they had not been treated equally like the other Ethiopians. For example, in some parts of Ethiopia, these Ethiopian Jews were dubbed caila, felasha, agaw, antheregna, bretketcach, shehila-serie, and buda. Derogatory names of this kind were common against these Ethiopian Jews where ever they lived in Ethiopia, be it in Gondar, Gojam, Lasta or Tigrie, and now worse in Israel, where they live. What a trajic story! The Jews who claim they are God’s chosen people discriminate their own race – the felashas. Shame on them! My question, however, to the Ethiopian Jews is the same one that the Apostle Paul asked long time ago: “What advantage, then is there in being a Jew…?” Romans 3:1

I am deeply sorry for the comments given. If Beta Israel fled Ethiopia to Escape poverty, what about over 47% Jews live in USA and ready to go to the promised land?

It is a very sad story. I must say, however, it is only you (bete israels) who can find a lasting solution to your challenging problems in your beloved country (israel). My advice is, try to figure out the evil roots of your problems and fight against it. Racism is to some extent prevalent every where. The paradox is you ran away of poverty from the Gondar plateaus of Ethiopia, only to face the sofisticated nature of modern racism and segegation. Right now, it is your only country (by choice). The good thing is the generation long dream to go to israel has come true and, at least, you are there, so face it.
