Ethiopia does not had any good and effective government since history began; the proof is that see all africa continent, and try to identify only one thing Ethiopia is better than other follow Africa estates, the answer is none, whatsoever. We were colonised is not a development or a point, unless you can show by what advantage ethiopia had because they were not colonused. Even Somalia, dispate years of civil war, they doing better then us, look, they are leading whole of Africa continent including South Africa, by the number of people who have access to Mobile and Internet access, furthermore, they Somalia have better GDP then many countries in Africa, including Zambia, Mali, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

No government is better than bad and corrupt government.

Africa did not fail to create good leaders who cared for their people. Kwame Nkrumah, Lumumba and Nelson Mandela are great examples of this. Unfortunately when Africa produces these leaders foreign powers (notably Western powers, like the "uninvolved" British) play a significant role in diminishing the roles of these visionaries, going as far as assassination in Lumumba's case.
The reality is that spending thousands of dollars picketing and begging for the attention of supposed "saviors" in Europe or elsewhere is nothing more than an acceptance of the idea that our progress, or rather return to our peaceful traditional ways, will only be achieved with the help of "democratic" and powerful countries (who cannot cloth or feed their own populations to begin with.)
Why not picket outside the Ethiopian Parliament? What have we to fear besides arrests and executions?
Our only advantage at this point seems to be the fact that we really have nothing to lose. But in comes in solidarity and courage...
Ethiopians shall not be deterred by the brutality of the current regime, a regime that knows too well that death is a small price to pay for power

Well done Obang and other Ethiopians. Solidarity and thinking beyond our immediate village is what we need at this point. It is very important that we solidify our opposition without undermining our differences.

But the think that, "you cannot blame the British" is not really palatable with me. Did not the British created all the mess by controlling the Ogaden and planting the root for all the discords now? Did not the British engineer the notion of Greater Somalia creating all the conflicts which havocked the area? Of course they are still backing the Melese regime for their own narrow interest. They know that Meles is a brute dictator and they also want the opposition group to panic Melese. I have rarely come across any substantial reporting by the BBC on Ethiopian human right violations while their eye is always on Zimbabwe, for example. I know our place in the world but look how much Iran garnered that attention of the west. As the dictator in Tehran killed Neda Meles slaughtered scores of thousand Ethiopian women.

Please when you meet such people called MPS tell them the issue as it is. We cannot stand this feigned ignorance and babysitting of dictators.

Obang Metho is a mervelous man with mervelous correct ideas, missions and visions but he may need to practice to write short and succint massages rather than a kilometer of over packed chunk of infomation for tody's people with very short span of attention.

It is even better to write four short comments at four different times rather than one very long comment in one single sitting. :)

Obang, I respect you. But I also pitty you because you're always expecting for change to come from others like the UK and the US... believe me, you'll be disappointed. It is not worth the shame that you felt when some white guy without no clue spoke about Ethiopia as if we're all idiots...
