A member of Ethiopia’s fake parliament defects to the U.S.

July 28th, 2009 |  |  15 Comments

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Ethiopian Review Intelligence Unit has learned that a member of the Woyanne rubber-stamp parliament, Ato Mesfin Ayalew, has applied for political asylum a few days ago after arriving in the U.S. for a visit.

Ato Mesfin was elected to the parliament from Woreda 11 of Addis Ababa as a Kinijit candidate. When the Meles tribal junta rounded up Kinijit leaders sent them to jail following its defeat, Mesfin joined other opportunists in entering the fake parliament as a member of Lidetu Ayalew’s EDP.

  1. ayele says:

We have to stop to appreciate any kind of defection after closely working with woyanne for a long period of time.Even if the person mentioned above might have no possible choices, People who in recent years worked for woyanne should take a stand to resign from whatever post they have in the hierarchy while they are still on power. And show their solidarity with the people. Its very easy to serve woyanne as an accomplice and defect to ask asylum when you have the chance, These people should be held responsible for whatever happened during their servitude to the regime because if they really feel the pain of the people who suffered under woyanne they should have left long time ago on whatever the situation.

ayele: in other words you are telling us to discourage other Woyane servants from defecting. LOL You have good ideas so that we can do Woyane’s homework ourselves. LOL

Welcome to the free world Mr. Mesfin. Now is time to help people figure out the inner workings of Woyane.

  4. Ochi! says:

I think, he is no body to talk about. Since his decision to join parliament, what he has been doing has been for economic personal gains, nothing more. Therefore, such people are neither addition to the opposition nor Subtraction from Woyane. If he is allowed to join Ginbot 7 or some other party in the US to get his asylum then it would be an addition a subtraction to the opposition since such people would be a liability unless they have unshakable reason to prove otherwise.

  5. Asmamaw says:

It shouldn’t matter whether people in offices defect or not. There are thousands of others who can fill their spots. Chances are more qualified people can possibly fill the vacancies and more opportunity for those without luck and also good for the institution.
This should never be an issue at all. People have done it for tens of years and all motives are not necessarily political. For some the motives can be political, for others it may be economic and still for others it may be a pure adventure of living in foreign lands.

    Thank you
    Asmamaw

Even if meles defect himself we will appreciate at this time, Mr ayele. That is exactly what we want. In regards to the crime, no matter where they go, any one who committed crime, he/she will face justices after the liberation. But for now what is first is first.

No wonder those who got the opportunity to come to the US or Europe don’t want to go back. They must have figured out the end of woyane’s tribal rules getting closer. Something terrible is brewing in Woyanes camp otherwise the “hodams” have no reason to split.

  13. Yoftahe Nigusse says:

The defection of higher officials of the dictatorial regime’s moving fast. This MP’s the third in few weeks. It’s a good development for the long-awaited change,a change for the development of the country,a better life for the 80 million people.

The people’re have got enough to live in grinding poverty. We need more defectors and possibly resignations by the top officials of the regime. It would be beter for them to it right now not later on,to cut short the plight of the people.

  14. Yohannes Ejigu says:

I got a different opinion from Ayele’s presentation of bitterness and grudge against the MP who defects the tyrant regime recently. At this time we need as many defectors as possible and we encourage the rest of them to do what the courageous MP does. We are not in a opposition to pass a verdict on these people from the comfort of our sanctuary. If Ayele were in that person’s shoes he might not act differently. Resentment and vindictiveness are not helping our cause. There should be passion, forgiveness and understanding among us to struggle against the brutal and merciless tyrant regime at home. We have to look ahead and renounce such act of turning up on each other and to orchestrate our combined effort in opposition to the ruthless dictator and his clique.

Most of us in this country are asylees. And we knew what happend to us while we were at home. Atleast this Guy struggled for his people upto his capabilities and made his own discion on his own life. Before we point our fingers on some one let’s ask ourselve’s ” who are we?”. Ayele , do you have a response for this?? By the way Mr. Mesfin is a younf vibrant professional,,,,,,,,,, Mr. Yohannes Ejigu I agree with you.
