It is reported that Beyonce Knowles will not perform at Al Amoudi’s millennium party in Addis Ababa. Instead, the Black Eyed Peas band from the U.S. will perform, according to the organizers. The Black Eyed Peas web site has also posted the band’s planned event in Addis Ababa.
Reuters and other media had reported that Beyonce, Janet Jacksom and 50Cent would perform at the millennium party, but there is no explanation available yet as to why these singers pulled out.
At least two Ethiopian human rights advocacy groups, Tegbar and SCOEPP, had sent warnings to Beyonce and others not to come to Addis Ababa for the millennium, saying that Ethiopia today is not a place to party; “t is a place where the people are being massacred, tortured, raped, and terrorized.”

ሰሞኑን ለጉዳዩ ቅርበት ያላቸው እንደገለጹትም በዋዜማው ለሚደረገው ለዚህ ዝግጀትም ቢዮንሴ እንደማትገኝና በምትኩ “ብላክ አይድ ፒስ” የተባሉ አቀንቃኞች እንደሚገኙና ኢትዮጵያውያን ዘፋኞች እንደሚጋበዙ ተገልጿል፡፡ ለዚህ ዝግጅት መግቢያ የተመደበውም ለአንድ ሰው 1600,00 የኢትዮጵያ ብር ነው፡፡
በሌላ በኩል በአዲስ አበባ ስታዲየም ዝግጅት ለማዘጋጀት ገንዘብ ከፍሎ የነበረ አንድ ድርጅት ስታዲየሙ “ሕብር” የተባለ ዝግጅት ይዘጋጅበታል ተብሎ እንደተከለከለ ለማወቅ ተችሏል፡፡ መስቀል አደባባይ ላይ “ቴስት ኦፍ አዲስ” በግለሰቦች ሊዘጋጅ የነበረው ዝግጅትም መሰረዙ የሚታወስ ነው፡፡

Why couldn’t the dirt rich Sheik himself put on a comedian’s uniform decorated with a bee logo and sing loud all through the mellenium cabare, since he is the main beneficiery of the land, while 80 million Ethiopians are starving and living between life and death?
Together with his killer TPLF body guards he just wanted to exhibit himself to the whole wide world as to how majestic and gigantic his private Ethiopian kingdom is, while shamelessely hiding and white washing the painful and subhuman tragedies of the poor and wretched Ethiopians perishing constantly for lack of the most basic human needs.

it reminds me of dergue’s lavish party in ’84 while Ehiopian famine victims were all over the news. Then, the ‘revolutionary’ woyanes bitterly denounced the dergue. today we see the woyanes behaving as the mad dogs that they are by going to war with everyone in the neighborhood, arresting/murdering elected officials and etc. i hope the good lord will hasten their demise.
