Well said, Ato Yilma.
Like anything else, there is a motive to do what we do. So, what is the motive for Ato Hailu Shawel to do what he did?
1. His HUGE ego to be in power or seen as powerful.
2. To be mentioned in the history as Ethiopian leader, at any cost or by hook or crook.
He had a great opportunity to satisfy his first motive. But he was not able to handle his own success of becoming the biggest and most liked opposition party leader, due to his feudal behavior he came down faster than he blink his eyes. Now realizing the missed opportunity, he scrambled to get the attention by reviving his dead party, in the hope of appearing a true opposition. It was obvious that it did not take him to realize he is no body without the public support or guns. Well, the next option can be to be a “political prostitute” – to sale his soul for the highest bidder – EPRDF.
What does EPRDF gain out of this?
• For starters, the biggest distraction on the news of 6 million starving people.
• The image EPRDF trying to present to the western donors as a legitimate democracy, by working closely, even with former archrival.
What does Ato Hailu Shawel gain out of this?
• Possibly a PRESIDENT role, in the near future.
• Access and influence to business relationship with EPRDF
Ato Hailu, now you made the right decision by formally endorsing EPRDF as a legitimate government, therefore, you become responsible for the 200 people who died, over 700 disabled and thousands jailed for democracy under your watch when you were the leader of Kinijit.
You become sugarcane for EPRDF. You’re juicy now, but soon, your juice will dry in few months and be spit out in a heart bit, like many others. The sad part is, you’re not only spit out by EPRDF, also with the Ethiopian people you betrayed.

Terrorist TPLF used Hailu Shawel, Bedru Adem and W/ro Tigist to destroy what is left of Kinijit after the terrorist TPLF was forced to release Kinijit leaders from its dungeons. Terrorist TPLF used its mouthpieces (weekend talkshows) in diaspora especially in the U.S. The mouthpieces of the terrorist TPLF in Washington, D.C. metropolitan area include Mirchawu’s, Negussie Hode Meragn’s and Selam radios. Especially Mirchawu’s and negussie’s radios play bad cap-good cap on the diaspora Ethiopians living around D.C., in the U.S and around the world. Their main mission entrusted to them by the terrorist TPLF is to play bad cap-good cap and confuse the diaspora in order to break tha backbone of any viable opposition as soon as it appears on the horizon. Their main job for which Mirchawu (aka Amtatawu) and negussie get paid by the terrorist TPLF is to prevent any viable Ethiopian opposition (any viable threat to the terrorist TPLF) from gaining any strong foothold in the diaspora and divide and weaken their support or potential for support. The terrorist TPLF pays also for their air time. One pulls from the right and the other from the left with tha same goal of confusing the diaspora and destroying the opposition. Mirchawu plays good cap and negussie plays bad cap on the diaspora. They work together hands in gloves. They broadcast from the same station and share their air time without even any attempt to hide it. They also defend one another from any attack from the audience. By playing good cap especially Mirchawu tried to destroy Kinijit. It also tried to destroy the OLF, EPPF, AAPO, AFD, Ginbot 7 just to mention a few. The current mission on which Mirchawu is working hard to destroy is MEDREK. The good thing is more and people are getting it.

Why don`t you return to Ethiopia and lead the peaceful struggle or take arms and fight to free the Ethiopian people instead of foul crying sitting in your cosy room.

Engeineer Hailu is doing the right possible thing under very difficult circumstances. If G7 is serious and reach ADDIS, the code of conduct as well as the election of 2010 will be history.

Ato Yilma,

Once again, well done. Yes, we need to keep our eyes on the prize — the defeat of Woyyane who have raised thuggery and internaitonal begging to an art form and the dawn of an era of democracy, freedom.

I believe Ato Hailu Shawel made a mistake in signing the BS election code of conduct. But we should not be too quick to condemn. He had contributed a lot to Knijit and I really feel that some misguided people in the opposition pushed him over the edge, over to the enemy’s side. Hence the need for caution.

Woyyane is the main enemy. We should not be distracted by minor side issue.
