Yemen accused of abusing Ethiopians

December 21st, 2009 |  |  3 Comments

SANA’A, Yemen (UPI) — Yemen systematically arrests and deports Ethiopian asylum seekers, a human rights group charges in a report urging the United Nations to intervene.

Tens of thousands of refugees make the hazardous sea crossing from Africa to Yemen, only to risk being arrested and forced illegally to return home to possible persecution, Human Rights Watch said in a report.

“Illegal immigration is a big problem for Yemen’s government, but hunting asylum seekers down like criminals and sending them back illegally is no way to solve the problem,” Georgette Gagnon, Africa director at Human Rights Watch, said.

More than 100,000 people, fleeing war or persecution, have been smuggled by boat to the coast of Yemen in the last two years. They often suffer brutal treatment at the hands of the smugglers, HRW charges, and face being robbed, beaten or even killed.

Once in Yemen, Ethiopians and others are treated as illegal immigrants and often deported even if they are in danger of persecution in their own countries.

Human Rights Watch wants the U.N. refugee agency to pressure the Yemeni government to meet its obligations toward refugees, Gagnon said.

  1. Assta B. Gettu says:

The Woyanne government is the one to be accused of for the unfair distribution of the Ethiopian wealth which is in the hands of a few selected Tegarues and some Ethiopian Arab Muslims, not the Yemeni government that has been welcoming hundreds of Ethiopians until it (the Yemeni government) finally could not cop with so many Ethiopians fleeing their country, coming to Yemen, and flooding the streets of SANA’A.

So far, I have never heard the Woyanne government saying something good or bad about these unfortunate Ethiopians except giving a deaf ear to the cry and sufferings of the Ethiopian immigrants or asylum seekers who have become the laughing stocks of the Yemeni Arab Muslims. How many Arab Muslims do we have in Ethiopia, the land of Christianity and the host of thousands of foreigners? We have at least over twenty million Arab Muslims, some Armenians, some Greeks, and some Italians – all of them living in harmony with the Ethiopian citizens. Therefore, the Yemeni Arab Muslims must at least accommodate about ten or fifteen million Ethiopians in their country for the time being until Ethiopia liberates itself from a tribal government and calls back all its misplaced children from all over the world.

On the other hand, if the Yemenis want to get rid of the Ethiopians from Yemen, the government of Yemen must help the Ethiopian Freedom Fighters to quickly oust the corrupt Woyanne regime so that the Ethiopians in Yemen could go back to their country. This is a good deal to consider: the Yemenis, the Sudanese, the Somalis, and the Eritreans must devise a new plan to bring down Meles Seitanawi who sold out Africa as the Metema land to the western world.

You are just a loser. You spoiled the nazret web site now you spread hate, a false one, in this web site. Ethiopian review should stop this guy called Assatu before it gets itself in trouble. Your agenda is to spread the barbaric views of Christian solomic dynasty of Judah and deprive the Wthiopian muslims of their own citizenship. Every body should work against this tyrant Assatu Getu the descendant of Yohannes the tyrant.

  3. Assta B. Gettu says:

Gragn Ahmed, (“Gra yegebah” as one of the commentators at Nazret Web Site told you in your face),

I have never seen you in this web site where millions of educated people express their views and educate the Ethiopians at home and abroad.

Where have you been all these years, and I’m glad to see you here and teach you the beauty of Christianity and the atrocity, cruelty, deception, immorality, and fake religion of Muhammad, the false prophet and the rapist ever lived in this planet earth. I thought you were dead and living in Muhammad’s false Paradise, enjoying those virgin girls?

Did you just come back from paradise when you couldn’t find those virgin girls and finally found out what Muhammad told you were false?

You try to fight me like a brave man at nazret.com but you ran away like one of Muhammad’s camels; the camel might have a reason why it ran away from your false prophet, but what was your reason that you quit the discussion and ran?

I’m glad you have not changed your screen name – Gragn Muhammad, the destroyer of the Ethiopian holy monasteries and the coward fighter and worshiper of Muhammad of Mecca.

You have not yet improved your English writing after I spent some time with you, teaching you to write proper English, and forget about writing my name (Assta B. Gettu) correctly. It is hard for you to write it properly, or you are simply making fun of my name.

You wrote: “Ethiopian review should stop this guy called Assatu (Assta) before it [he] gets itself [himself] in trouble.” You are threatening me, but it is understandable because your false prophet Muhammad established Islam, a fake religion, by threatening the citizens of Mecca and even by slaughtering many of them who refused to accept Islam.

As I told you before, my agenda is clear to teach people to say “no” to the religion of Islamic terrorists and Jihadists and to never acknowledge the Sharia law that mutilates human bodies, and subjugates women and enslaves them forever.

As usual, you wrote: “Every body should work against this tyrant Assatu (Assta) Getu (Gettu) the descendant of Yohannes the tyrant.”

Your advice to turn every body against me does not work; your fellow Muslims may listen to you because I have strongly criticized Islam as a false religion that teaches its followers to kill Christians wherever they are.

As you said, I wish I were one of the descendants of that holly man and conqueror of Islam, Emperor Yohannes and the defender of Christianity. He was not a tyrant; he was a righteous Emperor who died in the hands of your brothers, the terrorist Egyptian and Sudanese Muslims. May God give Ethiopia a person like him who loves his country and dies for it!

No one tries to deprive the new comers, the Ethiopian Arab Muslims, of their Ethiopian citizenships unless they behave the ways some of the Arab Muslims in the Arab Muslim world behave toward the indigenous Ethiopians.
