She made the decision to visit Ethiopia again at the request of Abune-Paulos.

  1. I’m Leaving
    ~ Beyonce Knowles

When I first met you, you told me exactly how it would be
You had a lady and couldn’t spend all your time with me
I only wanted to kick it, so I said cool, you can keep her
    Long as you satisfy me
But as the weeks went by I, I started feelin’ strange
Somethin’ was deep in my heart, somethin’ I can’t explain
I think I’m fallin’ in love with you boy
I’m needing you so much, I’m cryin’ just to feel your touch
    I gotta leave you

    I didn’t want no man
I didn’t wanna fall in love, and
I didn’t care about your girl
I didn’t care how we would end up

But that was then, this is now
    I think I’m experiencing love
I don’t wanna wreck up your home
    That’s why I’m convinced, I gotta go

    Everytime she calls, you expect
Me to disappear like we never met
At first I didn’t mind, but now I
Sometimes feel like you’re all mine

You told me it was all about me, me
It’s not about me if your still with her
Now I’ve realized that I’ve gotta move on
It might be hard, but I
    I gotta move on

    I gotta leave you
    I gotta leave you

  2. Even if i didnt understand the purpose of haveing a vip reception for beyonce at the church, i admire the patriarch abune paulos to have her visit the holy place in Ethiopia.

That is another worldwide attention for our church, and who knows Beyonce, one day might become the follower of our church.

Remember , Abune Paulos , also bibtized Bob Marley as a son of God and member of our orthodox Church.

So , inviting her back, depending on the purpose, is not a bad idea.

  4. Selam Elias;

I am the day today follower of your website ‘Ethiopian Review’. I appreciate your dedication and effort in all aspects as far as the website is concerned. But when I read the title ‘Beyonce steals Aba Gebremedhin’s heart’, I can’t believe is it Ethiopian Review or not. Please don’t lose your good value. Please be gentle and provide things that are more soundable. Please don’t write ‘Tera neger’. I am very sorry saying this. Please be active and write “Derejawon Yetebeke Neger”.

    Thx

    G/Elias

  5. So called ellite Aba Gebremedhin’s guards MAHEBERE KIDUSAN rather Mahebere Erkusan were they singing the song when Beyonce meet Aba Gebremedhin? These Talibans never give up trying to influnce the diaspora to come under Aba Gebremedhin.

  7. i do not understand why she was presented with some historical book that contains old church writing. any thing that has some historical meaning should not habded to anyone who visit the country because that is a national treasuer. and also she is nobody. just because she knows how to sing does not make her speciall. okay we are hospitable people and know how to well come guest. but that does not give any officials to give away our national treasure just because they like the person.

  8. God doesn’t appoint or elect any of these church or political leaders. We have seen the proof. The church used to tell us and fool us into believing that God anointed kings and rulers. We NOW know that was a conspiracy to rule over keep the people in darkness. Now that there is no more king, these priests and bishops are tricking/fooling us that they are God appointed, and we are witnessing what they do and how they behave. They still have millions of people to fool and keep in darkness. God has given us all equal right and the capacity to choose who will serve us honestly. We should throw out these pretentious holy men who live excessively, carry golden cross, were golden Jewel crown while multitudes of their countrymen and Christians go hungry and die every day. They are not the Disciples of Christ. I pray that true believers Orthodox Christians wake up and throw out of the church all these false prophets. With the guide of The Holy Spirit the true believers will care for their church and serve their brothers and sisters in Christ.

This might be “tera neger” for you b/c that’s not your church. For us to see our church being lowered and degraded this way is a pain. Once upon a time that cathedral was a place of grace and glamour, kings, queens and holy leaders were given such a reception not a hip hop naked singer from Huston’s project housing. I’m sure she fulfilled her childhood dream of being an African Queen, good for her, but it’s sad that it was in the cost of Our Church. Who will be received next @ the kideste sellasse? Pamela Anderson?. I’m sorry for children who are raised in Ethiopia these day, a generation of no respect.

  10. Elias most of the time I agree with your political views. But today I am sorry. As an orthodox christian I feel sorry when people insult religious fathers. who are we to judge the spirtual father? Don’t you think our Lord thinks more than you for the mother church? Don’t mix politics with religion.
    Egziabher yiqer yibeleh!!

  11. Selam and You know what the problem we ethiopians have? we don’t want to tell people straight to the point that they are doing wrong. Don’t be fooled for ever in the name of religion. We respect our religion but not those advocates who are using our religion as a cover up. That is what we lack. Do you think Ab paulos is doing his Job? Don’t tell me that we don’t judge him. Please don’t let any body when they try to cover up their evil thinking in the name of God.

  12. Gashe, you got all wrong. It is the Abune yeshaq baptized Bob marley. Pls don’t mix up history. By the way I was amazed by the aba g/medhin quoirs to give such reception for a singer who is not assoicated with church.

  13. “Whenever i watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, i can’t help but cry. I mean, i’d love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff.” (source: CRITICAL THINKING,8TH ED. BY MOORE & PARKER). Is this a sypathy or stupidity remark? What would her half naked custume dance would do to us? After all, she went to our poor country as she would go to anywhere to make money.
Did she spare a penny for those she….insulted?

  14. This is the first time a Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to meet and appreciate an artist with a value not totally in congruant with the Church’s values. Is this politics or personal for the pope?. As for the book that “depicts the early history of Axum and that of Ethiopia since the last 2,000 years” was presented to Beyonce. Were the TPLF thugs including Mellesse know that Ethiopia had a very long and amazing history than their retarded and iliterate mind ever understand.

  15. I am very surprised the Aba Paulos invite Beyonce in the church. It is nothing to do with the Ethiopian church. It was better to invite her in his own house. Beyonce is nobody, but singer. This days people has mixed things together.Any way it is shame to see such thing.

  16. I wish things had gone the oppossite. I mean it could have been a better cover story if Abune Paulos never invited Beyonce and if Beyonce contributed some of her income for the poor. I hate to say this but other famous philantropists who contributed magnificient ammount of donation during the worst times were not given such reception. For instance, Oprah!!!

  17. For those of you who wrote evil things about our father Abune Paulos, I urge you to read the Bible. Please read below and think twice. My God be with you all.

JOHN 8:3 The experts in the law 3 and the Pharisees 4 brought a woman who had been caught committing adultery. They made her stand in front of them 8:4 and said to Jesus, 5 “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. 8:5 In the law Moses commanded us to stone to death 6 such women. 7 What then do you say?” 8:6 (Now they were asking this in an attempt to trap him, so that they could bring charges against 8 him.) 9 Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger. 10 8:7 When they persisted in asking him, he stood up straight 11 and replied, 12 “Whoever among you is guiltless 13 may be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8:8 Then 14 he bent over again and wrote on the ground.

8:9 Now when they heard this, they began to drift away one at a time, starting with the older ones, 15 until Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 8:10 Jesus stood up straight 16 and said to her, “Woman, 17 where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 8:11 She replied, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”]] 18

  18. What is new? Starting from the begining Politics and religion goes hand in hand in Orthodox church. Therefore why you critizise Aba Paulos ignoring the past history of the church?

  19. I can not believe how ignorant people are and how so judgmental you all are. this women came to visit our country, whether famous or not this women is known in the United States for her to come to our country be blessed by our the fathers and taking our book for the American people to read to be read to or know about our history, WILL get this church known around the world. You know who ever is the writer of this ethiopian review the only thing I have to say is you all need some more education spiritually. calling people diabilos and ect… who are you to judge would you do a better thing if you were in power. NO. stop critisizing and hating someone, instead work together or alone for your country istead of always whining and complaining and hating on people. THIS IS SO SAD. this is not about abune paulose nor any leaders this is about our One church our one country. because the goverment or synod might have problems we dont say its in EXILE? come on we go there and fight for the better of our religion and country if we are real christians, but sitting in the goods of America and writing words of hate will cost nothing but for our innocent brothers and sister in ethiopia to die. so STOP IT.

  20. Ephrem

I don’t think these ppl on this page are total ignorant as you may have thought. You needd to take some social science classes to help you understand their point of view.
