Public hanging of civilians in Ogaden

November 29th, 2007 |  |  2 Comments

O.N.L.F Statement

Armed forces of the Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) led regime captured by the ONLF in recent months have reported on several occasions that they were under direct orders to hang villagers in “trouble spots” throughout Ogaden as part of a continuing collective punishment campaign against civilians.

This brutal practice is increasingly becoming the terror tactic of choice for TPLF regime troops in the Ogaden and is well known to our nomadic population.

The international community and the United Nations in particular must not sit by idly as the TPLF regime sanctions the barbaric hanging of our people simply because of their ethnicity.

The UN must therefore act on the recommendations made in September of this year by its humanitarian fact finding mission to Ogaden and immediately constitute an independent investigation team to visit Ogaden and look into cases of torched villages, rape and now, public hangings of innocent civilians from trees.

The ONLF pledges to cooperate with the United Nations in gathering evidence of genocide in Ogaden.

Terrorist TPLF is terrorizing the Ethiopian people. Terrorist TPLF is intimidating the Ethiopian people by incarcerating them in concentration camps, cold blooded massecar, lynching, raping and burning of villages along with children, elders and others who are unable to evacuate. TPLF thugs will be held responsible and they will pay costly for their terrorism, war crimes and crimes against humanity very soon.

  2. Haile says:

What wonders me is why the rest of Ethiopians are onlookers of Ogadeni massacre?. Do they think that TPLF have a particular problem with Ogadenis?. The rest of Ethiopians should know that this attitude suits TPLF because it is easier for them to fight aganist one group at a time. Yesterday it was Anuak people, today it is the Ogadenis, tomorrow it will be another and another group the day after and so on. The only way that Ethiopia can get ride of Meles and his terrorist TPLF group is to coordinate and synchronize their military, political, diplomatic and financial muscle and have a common front against these inhumane and degrading parasites. If that did not happen then rest assured that Meles and his animals will keep shedding the blood of much more innocent Ethiopians for many long years to come.
