Woyanne prevented Kinijit executives from giving press conference

December 14th, 2007 |  |  13 Comments

The Woyanne police in Addis Ababa this afternoon (local time) prevented Wzt. Bertukan Mideksa and members of the Kinijit Executive Committee from giving a press conference to local media. The police told Wzt. Bertukan that they are an illegal group and are not allowed to talk to the media. Dr Hailu Araya, Ato Muluneh Eyoel and several members of the Kinijit Council were present along with Wzt. Bertukan for the press conference. The Kinijit officials were forced to hand out the written statement to reporters standing on the street.

The press conference with EMF, ER and ECADF will be held today at 2 PM Washington DC time as scheduled. Click here to listen live.

Most of the hotel reviews state the san diego hotel as the best one, even more than a boston hotel. Of course this comparison is sans the london hotels.

There must be jubilation in the Woyanne camp. What we didn’t know is that Hailu Shawl has been working hard to advance Woyanne’s interest. It is hard to believe that a man of his arrogance and ignorance was a chairman of Kinjit for so long and has gotten undesrved reputation at least for a while. He is equal to Meles and the devil himself in his evil and he should be cursed. How many times should the people of Ethiopia be betrayed? How many should die, suffer, and leave their beloved country and people for exile? A man of Hailu’s inflated ego shouldn’t deter us from our way to democracy and justice. His ego let millions of Ethiopian die and broke the heart of million others. Let us join hands together to stop Meles and Hailu from destroying our country and killing our people. We see that there is no difference between the two except that one is in Arat Kilo palace and the other in his Minnesota mansion.

  6. Tesfa says:

Hailu Shawl is no different than Melese in his hate to the youth. He couldn’t hide his hate to the younger generation even in his “decree”. He stated that the five memebers of the delegation to North America called for a change in Kinjit’s leadership and that they were conspiring to replace the leadership with the younger generation. I cannot believe he hates the youth this much. Has he forgotten how many youngs died fearlessly for democracy and justice. Now, it has become increasingly clear that his plan was just to climb to power on lives and bloods of millions of young Ethiopians. I am sensing that this guy do not regret seeing all youngs die as long as he can satisfy his ego. The guy likes ageb wejeb. He considers himself a king and wants all to bow down at his sight. My friends, let us keep moving forward leaving this “yetarik atela” behind. When he dies, I am sure even termites will be disgusted to eat his body.

I am glad to see the process of democratization just getting started in Ethiopia. Members of CUD are expressing their disagreements through the radio and the printed pages instead of through guns like the TPLF has been doing and is doing.

Having said that, however, we will all like to see the disgreements brought to the discussion table for resolutions.

THIS IS THE DEMCRATIC PROCESS THAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG!

THANK GOD, ALMIGHTY, WE HAVE BECOME DEMOCRAITIC AT LAST!!!

  8. Utubo says:

Hailu Sahwil is an idiot, who can not even articulate the provisions of his own party’s constitution that allow him to suspend the five CUD executives. He was so vague at the VOA interview. What a disgraceful this guy is!!! What a shame you are, Eng. Hailu!!! I wish you RIP (Rest in Peace)soon.

condemnation is not enough, action is required. what we have to do is now, let us use every ways and means of communication with our people in Ethiopia (friends, relatives,..) and push them to stand by the executive committee and support their action.

Weyanie’s action is right, what else do we expect from them?

    thank you.

  11. Tesfa says:

Utabo, I share your feeling. In his inteview with the VOA, the disgraced Hailu Shawl was asked what article in the Kinjit by-laws allows him to suspend the true leaders of the people. His response was rather laughable. He said he does not carry the by-law whereever he goes and that he doesn’t remember the article very well. He further said this is nothing new since (addessing himself in plural “we”) he used to work like this before. Alas! I knew how ignorat and arrogant he was even in the past but I didn’t know he was such an extraordinary liar. There is no provision in the Kinjit by-laws that allows him to write such a “decree”. The fact that he addresses himself in plural “egna” is either being completely ignorant of the basic Amharic grammar or a sign of association with the late Emperor Hailesellassie. He is all: Ignorant, arrogant, dictator, ruthless, hateful. He is such a sinner in his days that he was supposed to lock himself behind monastery. I advise him to quit everthing and join Debre Libanos to confess his sin and unlock himself from the evil spirit that possesses him.

  12. Abdullahi (sumalew) says:

I can’t believe some of my friends here still ahve faith in peacefulstruggle to oust Meles? this guy is not going anywhere unless forced to flee. Like the Ogadens, just pick up the gun and fight his demoralized militias. If the tiny Ogadens cause him so much concern, why can the larger united groups? It is time to ACT and not to talk. no matter who wins the CUD dispute, which i hope the democractic wing of Birtukan will win, it is not a REAL threat to Meles’s reign. Not now that the US see him as reliable ally. and Don’t expect the ferenji’s to stand by the side of the ethiopian masses, out of morallity. Might is right and the moment they see he is challenged and losing, they willl push him over the cliff. so, stop this innunudos about this or that article and start debating on the issues that matter. Have we reached the time for armed uprising? I believe that debates is now long over due.

  13. Malekese says:

We just need to stop complaining and cursing about either Ato Hailu or anybody else and start doing something about woyane . peaceful struggle is not taking us nowhere as long as they are considered allies of war with U.S .woyane believes and respects arm struggle and we should give them that .that is the only solution I see .
