Please read the ENA story on this matter. Compare the English and Amharic versions and you will find out that Melles and Bereket are taking care of every small detail. In the English version, no details of the courts ruling are given; it doesn't even attempt to separate them from the CUD leadership. The Amharic version is more detailed and much revealing.

Amazing lapse of a dictator?

Though two more years and five months in jail seem better than ten years or life imprisonment, even one night in the Ethiopian jail I will not recommend either to my friends or to my enemies.

It is sad to see these two innocent Ethiopians to go back to hell on earth – the Woyanne jail – built, fenced, guarded, and run by the children of Satan – the Woyanne people. The Woyanne are the only ones who have the key to open and lock the gates of hell – the prisoners’ doors. One day, for sure, a powerful person may arise among the God-fearing Ethiopians and snatch away by force this satanic key from their dirty hands and lock up all the Woyanne collaborators in the same jail they used to jail innocent Ethiopians. Once they are all in that horrible jail, they will never see the sun again; they just rot and die there, and their dead bodies will be like that of Jezebel in the Old Testament. As to these two humble Ethiopian heroes, Daniel and Netsanet, whom Woyanne try to force them to sign a document of forgiveness but refused to do so, so that they could be good modals for the rest of us and to our children, they are indeed the embodiment of true democracy. I can say they are the true disciples of Mahatama Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Why did they refuse to ask Woyanne to forgive them as the others before them did and got free? What made them persistent in their words to the truth that they had never violated an iota of the rules in the Constitution of the land? To satisfy the Jerusalem mob that shouted “Crucify, Crucify him,” even though Pilate wanted Jesus to go free because Pilate couldn’t find any criminal case that demands Jesus to die, he gave him to the Jews to crucify him, and they did. In the Daniel and Netsanet case, one of the judges has, I think, testified these two Ethiopians have never committed any crime or broken any constitutional law, so they must have gone free, but the Woyanne mob and Meles’ stool-pigeons insisted that Daniel and Netsanet should go to jail and they prevailed. Isn’t that sad?

This all fits in the infamous picture of "Mellesodrama". "Find them guilty of 'not proving their innocence', then sentence them to a term that is less than the time they spent behind bars".

Sounds familiar? Yes, we know it from Siyye Abraha.

The rule of law should be our war cry. That is the only thing which unites all!
