Harry,

I agree with you as much as I disagree with you. You can be a Clinton supporter or an Obama supporter, that does not make any big deal. It is your "individual" right to have a choice of your own. "Mob decisions" and agreeing/disagreeing with what we think our reference group approve/disapprove is intellectual cowardice. Any one should be able to excercise independent judgment and take a position based on "reason". Having done that, you should also understand why others may taunt you because your are not supporting what they think you should. Your "superior judgement", I call it "intellectual courage", should put you in different setting to be able to understand the viewpoint of others and be firm in your own as long as it is right. I agree with you in that!

On the other hand, I found your categorical classification of politics into "American and Ethiopian kind" a little amuzing. The "my way or high way, the foul language, name calling" and all other things you mentioned are not peculiar to Ethiopia. I disagree! There is a lot of it in here. Just turn on your TV tonight when you get home! You will get enough for a year. You made it look like it does not exist in America at all and it only exist in Ethiopia and you said, "I call it Ethiopian-kind politics"! The statement is absurd! Just wake up and look around! You will see a lot, until you start throwing out....

I am hoping "Ethiopians for Obama" changes to "Ethiopians for Ethiopia" very soon. I admire the dedication and excitement of those working for "Ethiopians for Obama". As you have underlined the importance of organization and political participation in this article, I plead you to apply it to the motherland whose children are dying everyday in cruel hands of their rulers.
I love this Article. I love this Country. Thank you very much for giving me hope that Ethiopians in America will participate and engaged in American-type of politics, give and take. " In this great nation , friction is resolved through dialogue and disagreements assuaged by discussion." I am very happy, because, you articulated what I have been saying, at least, for the last 25 years. Thanks to Obama I see the grassroot swelling and Ethiopians are participating. It is a great Pleasure.

I am Hard-liner Democrat and I am a Democratic-Commitee-Person Under Mayor Nutter, and I am a Clinton Supporter. But, When November comes I will work hard for A Democratic Nominee.

We have to learn more about policical participation in a civilized manner. I believe, we have a long way to go. We need to have American-type political orientation, give and take, win and loose. I sometimes, do not like Ethiopians-kind politics. My way is the highway. If you don't agree with me you are not a good person. many foul languages. Because, I discussed my support for Clinton, I have been abused, name-called and even threatend. That is what I call Ethiopians-like politics. We have to respect people with different ideas and support for different candidates, discuss issues. At the end of the day the majority win and you have to go with that winner. Hopely it might be your kind, choice and party winner. That is why I love this Country. It gives you a chance if know how to use it, not abuse it.

Like you said, we have to organize and participate. We have to run for Offices. I always say, if Ethiopians in Washington DC area, register to vote and realy vote they can take over and can control the Council and Mayor Seat in D.C. May be I should move to D.C. to run for Council-At-Large. I did it here in Phily and I got over 22,000.00 votes from possible 50,000.00 votes. That is good with about ten Ethiopian votes and about $4,000.00 financial help from Ethiopians in Tri-States Area. I am greatful for a lot of Ethiopians, but I was perplex by their participation. By the way, most of those who voted are my fellow Ethiopian-Earitrians.

My point here, is, I hope to show that, We Ethiopians are Capable and ready for participation in American-type, kind and gentle political activities. I hope I am giving some lessons to be be politco. Not About me, but About US Ethiopans and our Children as a whole to participate everwhere, to change the domestic and foriegn policy of this Great Nation. If any body wants to advice me my e-mail is hmassele@montcopa.org. Be careful from abusing electronic-mail. Again Thank you my Fellow Ethiopians of Obama Supporters, even thouth I am not yet until nomination.

Here is a new generation, a rising voice, who is informing us to rise above the fray, and be part of the solution. I have to echo, please vote, and overcome the cynicism which haunts us.
