Selam Emma:

Great article, Your contribution to ER does reciprocate, in a way, from the Eritrean side, shall I say.

Elias has already secured one, you need a couple more to be eligible for a new dual citizenship after the Woyanes are gone:-)

Keep it up!

Truth shall prevail!!

Great article! Very articulate! Very well written.

The writer did a fantastic job of clearly explaining the misguided American foreign policy in the Horn of Africa, how it has caused more damage than it solved in the region; and how the George W. Bush's misguided foreign policy still make up the minefield that Obama now finds himself treading in. But Obama is now the President and the buck stops with him.

The irony of all ironies is that during one of his eloquent speeches describing his predecessor's foreign policy on Iraq, Obama said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." In this case, that makes two of them!

We need to face the fact that a weakly supported regime like Meles' that is more willing to betray its people is much more favorable by self-serving neo-colonial powers. Such servitude absolves the regime from its crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Ethiopia it now commits with total impunity.

The good news is, as the writer accurately pointed out, the Meles regime is isolated from the neighborhood. The only support it now gets is from like-minded puppet dictators serving west's interest in the region. The new relationship forged between Eritrea and Sudan has further tightened the noose around Zenawi's neck making his disgraced fall very imminent.

On the other hand, in Eritrea, the IMF and the West's long-running propaganda that Africa can not go it alone without the guidance of the West, is in considerable jeopardy. At the upper end, the IMF and the West lost that line of argument in China. On the lower end, they feel threatened by what is transpiring in smaller countries like Eritrea. Hence, the recent unwarranted sanctions imposed on Eritrea.

I truly believe China’s non-interference policy in Africa is winning the hearts and minds of the people in the continent. Africans should be left alone to solve their own problems and to decide their own destiny on their own terms as they deem fit.

Thank you for the great article Mr. Amanuel Biedemariam.

God bless the people of the Horn of Africa.

Excellent analysis and very visionary.

We know the sanction is a blessing in disguise for us Eritreans. As always we can turn it to our advantage and at the end we shall see who lose.

It will not be long to see a coordinated sanction on Tigray province since it is surrounded in the North by Eritrea, south and east by Whole of Ethiopia who are waiting that day to avenge. Now if the west neighbor - Sudan, turn his back, it is going to be a sign for the demise of the region.

Mark my words!
