libir:

Here is how TPLF lies right infront of the world community. Few months back when Kemal Shimeles (a TPLF spokesperson ) was asked if his regime was jamming the VOA, he replied "We do not do such things. We have freedom of speech in this country." Then a few days later Meles Zenawi said his regime has been jamming VOA off and on for a long time and that it was only a matter of weeks before his totalitarian regime will perfect the technology and jam it all together.

Now, here is a regime which is not afraid to lie blatantly to the world community. What reason would any sensible person have to trust anything the regime says? We know the so called "economic data" is manufactured in one of TPLF's office. The "data" is collected neither by IMF nor by World Bank. If the Imf OR WorldBank is fooled, it would not be the first time TPLF has made a fool of the West.

"Statistics are like a drunk with a lampost: used more for support than illumination." Sir Winston Churchill

Add Meles Naziawi to that and you end up looking at a suit and tie wearing imbecile that the white man can once again laugh at.

It is nice that the writer went to much trouble to collect information from different sources to defend his or her argument. However, I don't understand why the writer chooses to praise reports which only support his or her argument, while denouncing, without enough explanation, the more credible and universally accepted sources like IMF. At some point, the writer even seems to be convinced that Ethiopia grew, a little bit higher than the average for sub-Saharan Africa. What about at least feeling good for that and applauding the effort of the people? If only you do that, readers would believe you are actually concerned about economic growth. However, it is all clear that the point of this article is not about showing if there is a real growth or not. It's all about not believing and accepting the current government, a typical diasporas’ political disposition. The writer seems to indicate that he or she knows better than the personnel in CSA in Ethiopia, and is directly blaming them for collecting a 'bad' data or manipulating data. Why then be a person of reaction? Why not give these people desperately trying to do something out of nothing, a helping hand? I have a very simple advice for the writer and the like minded diasporas’ psedo-educated, nostalgic opposition. Just a popular Chinese proverb, "The person who believes that something cannot be done, should not interrupt, the one trying to do it". Of course, I believe articles like this one, and the people who write them are not much of an interruption to the people of Ethiopia, as we always say.. ‘the dog always barks, yet, the camel keeps going’
