Dedicated his entire life to create the best sounds of music by compiling traditional Ethiopia music with modern melodies, he is one of the greatest composer we have on the 21st century. If he was a UK citizen then he could have been awarded the Knighthood and been called Sir Mulatu Astatke. God bless you and keep up the good work to your final days.

    Long live Mulatu Astatke

I had the 45 that I bought from that music store in the Pizza area not too far from Cinema Ethiopia( I forgot the name). I had a Philips record player (portable). It still reverberates in my never failing RAM memory. It bought me memories of some of the places I heard it. At my home, night clubs(Venus and others) and party gathering places like Buffet La Gar. It was days of innocence. We were called names like jolly-jacks and western lackeys just because we were listening and dancing to such lively tunes. This man is a great man and we should all honor him regardless of any politics. I called upon the good offices of such patriotic Ethiopians as the editor of this website and others to organize a ceremonial gathering where Ato Mulatu will be recognized and honored for his ground breaking contributions to our modern music. Someone should write a biography of Ato Mulato and others like him. I used to own a magazine published by the late legendary sports writer At Solomon. The name of the magazine was ‘Kewaptochachen’. Does anyone remember this magazine? It was full of biographies of notables in the music, sports and others professions. It would be an excellent accomplishment if someone can locate the copy of this magazine. Mine was lost when hoodlums ransacked our house and took such and other valuables during the trying and terror period of the 70’s.
