EDITOR'S NOTE: There is no 'Ethiopian military' in today's Ethiopia. It's a Woyanne military over 90 percent of whose top brass are from one ethnic group, Tigray. It's a military that is good only at killing civilians and raping women. It's a military that cannot defeat less than 10,000 poorly armed Somali insurgents. It's a military that cannot and and is not willing to protect the territorial integrity of Ethiopia when tens of thousands of square kilometers of lands are being carved up and given to neighboring Sudan and Djibouti. In short, a herd of pigs is more honorable that the Woyanne military. So it is a bunch of scumbags honoring their scumbag leader.
(AFP) — ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s military has awarded Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and several high-ranking army officers for their leadership in the 1998-2000 war with neighbour Eritrea, state media said.
Meles was cited for "his meticulous leadership in foiling anti-peace moves of the Eritrean regime, terrorists and other anti-peace elements," the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) said.
Ethiopia is at loggerheads with neighbouring Eritrea over the precise delimitation of its border and has routinely accused Asmara of backing secessionist groups inside its territory.
The 1998-2000 Ethiopia-Eritrea war claimed 80,000 lives on both sides.

It is even a shame think at 21st century a country with long history rolled back and ruled by ethnics based on Ethnics ideology.

Hey Elias, it is sometimes good to vent anger in this way. Otherwise, you may end up developing hypertension and its complication. A nervous breakdown, they call it severe depression in the states, may also be a possiblity if you don't open up. Whatever has made you so critical AND hateful about Tigray and its people, I don't know. However, If you think that Tigrean soliders are bad and don't know how to fight, I suggest, try to fight them, like a man, get a gun and go fight. you will probably get no chance to even run.

I think for very little political gain you are exaggerating out of proportion. It is obvious that the top army commanders are from Tigray, definitely not fair. But, saying that 90% of the army is Tigreans is a white lie. By the way, you are right in criticizing the way they rule and the way Meles is ordering the military to kill and arrest without due process. However, you don't have any right to strip Ethiopian citizenship to any Ethiopian.

The last thing I remember about the war and Melese was his intention to give the land to his master Esayas without a fight, and he was aginst the war. how on earth he didn't say "I don't deserve this." Now the dictators start giving each other a prize. That victory is a victory 80000 of our brothers and sisters who sacrified their life to defened their country.No more no less in my view.

Elias it may be the joke of the week but I believe this news should be called "Another joke of the greatest country in Africa" or "When 200,000 perishes weyane enjoyes"; this just shows you how evilish these gang-ho are! I mean for gods sake nearly 200,000 innocent soldiered died, nearly $5 billion dollars were wasted, Ethiopia is divided among ethnic lines, the brotherly-sisterly relationship between both nations are buried 10 foot under, Somalis are bleeding, Ethiopians are starving, and so on. The Editor's note is not far from truth. After the May 2005 Election, in fact on the day of Election-evening state emergency was proclaimed by crime Minister(CM Meles)to supress the victorius parties and the people.

All these drama depicts that Woyanes are frustrated. They only live on pretention.
They are really cowards. They know only to aim at innocent unarmed civilians. What they are doing now is good for documentation.
Anyway they never escape the tide of popular revolution. They will wither away like a cloud.

It doesn't do us any good to hash things out by stating "We won", "We won"! “Yea, we are better than Eritreans” and all that nonsense. What did we win? As Matti said it well, about 200,000 innocent combatants perished, more than half a million people got displaced and only God knows how much of the donated money was squandered to make the arms merchants of death even richer. And all this wasted for no reason whatsoever for something that could have been resolved sitting around a table. The country has been polarized on ethnic lines like never before. Eritreans and Ethiopians have been forced to remain enemies when they get nothing out of such enmity and much more by being themselves and working together as they have done since time immemorial! Add to that the almost irreversible hatred that the Somalis have against our people not because they hate Ethiopians, but they were forced into just that because of a servant of US imperialism! Ethiopia's "Food insecurity", which sadly has become the trademark of the country, remains at all time high. All this developments were achieved under the "Wise" leadership of Ayte Meles Zenawi and his Tigraian top brass the including the entire Tigraian mafia of the likes of Siye Abraha and Gebru Asrat. I am mentioning this duo because I am getting tired of some Weyane followers trying to present them in somewhat kinder and gentler Mafiosi. Not only the 90% top miltary officers, but also the top civlian government ministers and Embassy diplomats are mainly from one tribe-Tigrai. It has never been like this in Ethiopian history before.

The stupidity of all those who say we won the war or battle is mind boggling. Do you even know, really know, how many soldiers we lost. Were the families of the dead soldiers informed.
I personally would rather believe the Eritrean version of events than our leaders version. Our fearless leaders, Meles and his clowns, have told us so many different (often contradicting) versions of the same event that it is impossible to know what is true. I find it quite insulting when Meles tells us we won the war and dishonors the sacrifice of our soldiers by not telling their families of the ultimate price that their sons or daughters paid. At least Essayas informed every parent that lost a son or a daughter. What i find even more insulting is the idiots that repeat weyanes propaganda. That only says the Ethiopian people are ignorant enough to believe anything, and that is why wayane had the audacity to say they won the election of 05.

Meles was saddened when the military officials forgt to give him birthday present. once they knew he was mad, they came with this idea of an event "honoring the PM". The grand reception was held @the Minilik Palace.He got a lot of presents in cash. Chat, Chevas and Courvisor were served abundantly.
