Healers or Enablers? The case of Ethiopian doctors in exile

By Anonymous

Some Ethiopian doctors in exile are said to be planning to invest in Ethiopia. In preparation, they have had meetings with the Woyane deputy prime minister, and ambassador Girma Biru among other officials. They wish to build a referral hospital in Addis Ababa. According to the feasibility study, the project aims as clients at the rich who would otherwise travel abroad for medical care, foreigners in the country and patients from the Middle East. Many argue that the project won’t do anything significant for the poor and accuse of such doctors as enablers of an undemocratic regime which oppresses the people of Ethiopia.

I was recently listening to the National Public Radio (NPR) when a physician from Burma said: “I will not go back to Burma because the military government now says I can come.” The physician used to own a clinic in Burma, which was closed and confiscated by the Burmis government. He managed to escape and went to exile. He continued to fight for freedom and democracy in Burma. Recently, there is news that Burma is showing progress towards democracy. Free and fair elections took place and Aung San Suu Kyi is now elected with an overwhelming support from the people. This is a progress though there are still political prisoners. The Burmis government is now telling people in exile to come home. The Burmis physician said: “I will not go back to Burma because the government says so but I will go when I see it right because it is my country.”

In the case of Ethiopia, there has been exodus of citizens since TPLF took power. Countless citizens have been unjustly killed, tortured, imprisoned, displaced from their lands and are denied jobs if they were not members of the the ruling party. The educated was not exempt. Several university professors were summarily dismissed. Professor Asrat Woldeyes was killed by the government because of unjust imprisonment and denial of proper medical care until it was too late. As a result of the continued injustices at the hands of the Woyanne regime, Ethiopian professionals are leaving their country {www:en mass}. According to one report, 46% of Ethiopians would like to leave their country. The mass exodus of Ethiopian physicians has been devastating to the country. It is reported that there are more Ethiopian doctors in the US than the whole of Ethiopia. This is a huge loss to the poor nation.

It will not be easy to blame the Ethiopian doctors for leaving their country in search of freedom and better life. I say so because where there is a divisive system as the Woyanne which favors one ethnic group over the other, values party affiliation over skills, and systematically suppresses dissenting voices, it is natural that people would want to free themselves from such mess.

Most of the Ethiopian doctors are here in the US based on political asylum for fear of persecution by the Woyanne regime. That same regime is still in power and it has not changed its manner of rule. Key government and economic positions are held by Woyannes and their affiliates. People are being thrown to prison just because they expressed their views. And guess what, the parliament is completely by controlled by one party, except for one sit. It is currently in the news that about 78,000 Amharas have been displaced from southern Ethiopia in an effort by the regime to create Amhara free area. So, we have not seen even the kind of change happening in Burma that the Burmis doctor did not see as adequate for him to engage in business with the Burmis dictators.

A contrast is to be drawn between the Burmis doctor and some of the Ethiopian doctors in exile. The former seems to have a principled stand that until freedom reigns and justice prevails, going back and doing business with dictators is unthinkable. On the other hand, some of our doctors seem to have chosen to present themselves to servitude in doing business with a dictatorship. This is so while prominent entrepreneurs like Dr Fisseha Eshetu, a physician and founder of Unity University, have left the country concluding that it is practically impossible to independently conduct business under the ravenous TPLF junta.

These doctors seem to be {www:oblivious} to the suffering of their people at the hands of the Woyanne. They seem to have forgotten that most of them came to the west and requested asylum on the bases that the same Woyanne made it impossible for them to live in their country. Now that they are economically capable of investing, thanks to the US, they seem to have forgotten the plight of their people who are subjected to Woyanne’s oppression. Some of the physicians are obviously supporters of the current regime, but the majority may have been victims of their guilt feeling that they have to give back to their country. Some may have seen a business opportunity. They are bamboozled into joining a club of people who say that ‘governments will come and go’ so it is find to work with the regime no matter what it does. I have news for them: as long as they enable the Woyanne by doing business with it, the system of minority exploiting the majority is here to stay.

Doctors, let’s be honest and be true to ourselves. Are you not investing primarily to make money? How do you think the poor will benefit from a hospital erected in Addis Ababa where the plan is to charge several thousands of birr per visit? Is it not the reality that your primary clients are the rich, the expatriates, and possibly people coming from the Middle East, etc? These people are and will continue to be capable of seeking treatment anywhere in the world. But to say that you guys are investing to pay back to your people who paid for your education is utterly dishonest.

Some of the doctors are politically astute in their support of the Woyanne regime that is benefiting their minority group. For those Ethiopian physicians who honestly think they are investing to help Ethiopia, please do your homework first as you may regret later. Although your investments may be well intentioned or for the purpose of making profits, there are a potential risks that you will eventually succumb to.

As planned, the doctors will be able to raise only a portion of the investment. In the current reality of minority group controlled Ethiopia, it will be imperative that Azeb Mesfin and other high powered Woyannes will be part of the business.

Then, you are effectively doing business with the woyanne which will control your investment from the inside.

In so doing, you are benefiting the very group (Woyanne) that most of you accuse it of doing you injustices that forced you to into exile, and a group which is making the country hell for most people.

According to the bylaw of the project, the investing physicians will have to spend two weeks per year in proposed hospital. For those physicians who may have a differing political view from that of the Woyanne, it will be impossible to express their views freely or risk their business or possibly be imprisoned like many if they choose otherwise.

Then, the Woyanne regime will have achieved its goal of Diaspora investment policy , i.e., weakening the opposition by keeping people silent for fear of their business being endangered no matter what a cruel injustice the very people the doctors claim to help are subjected to.

My dear Ethiopian physicians, do you really follow the political situation in your country, Ethiopia? Do you really appreciate the cries of so many million people? Are you aware that journalist Eskindir Nega, who used to live in the US but left for Ethiopia hopping that he will make a difference, is now languishing in prison possibly facing death for the only crime of expressing his views? Many more Oromos, Amharas, Somalis, etc are currently languishing in prison. Are you aware that the Anuaks were massacred by the Woyanne, and now they are being displaced and their land, Gambella, is being given away to Indian and Arab “investors” for dirt cheap prices?

I hope you have seen in the internet when the Indian Karituri representative told the British journalist: “they gave it to us, we took it; we didn’t even see the land when we agree,” as he expressed his surprise about how cheaply they got a huge land in Gambella. Are you aware that Ethiopian land has been given away to Sudan by the Woyanne? Are you aware that the Amharas are currently being deliberately displaced from the southern Ethiopia because of the ethnic policy the Woyane espouses? Are you aware that our sisters are being trafficked to Arab countries? Do you know that Yenesew Gebre, a 29 year old teacher in southern Ethiopia burnt himself to death protesting the injustice perpetrated by the Woyane regime?

Dear physicians, if you are aware of the above and other myriads of national disasters inflicted by the Woyanne, do you think you should do business with this regime?

If you think you are not deliberately doing business with the regime, the reality is you are. You are indeed enabling the regime to further perpetrate crimes against our country. If you think you will do what you plan to do and hope things will get better, I tell you that your effort is synonymous to treating a {www:hookworm} infection with a {www:blood transfusion}. Though, a blood transfusion may be necessary for severe {www:anemia} due to a hookworm infection, you are guaranteed to require more blood transfusions in the future unless you treat that hookworm infection with a drug that cures it. You choose! You can choose to be a change agent like the Burmis doctor or become an enabler of a parasitic regime in doing business with it and keeping silent. You choose!

  1. Wow ! It was the Indian doctors who started going back home to start business ventures, but now it looks like the reverse brain drain is to start in Ethiopia. I believe the best way to fight woyane is by moving in than staying away.
Keep up the good work -docs.

do you think 85 million Ethiopian who are under the yoke of TPLF will buy your argument? i don’t. and i know most Ethiopian don’t buy your lies ether.but good try.

    Tilahun replies:

My friend I do not know about 85 million people and what they want-only wayanes claim they know what the 99%( 85 million farmers )want- that is developmental state according to them. I am talking about a handful of doctors who once left their home land , not for political persecution on most cases but for better life and professional advancement, who are contemplating to go back to that country. I am sure they are not on steroid but the mere fact that a group of docs see some business opportunity in Ethiopia is a good news.I know they do not have enough money or can not raise enough money to build a state of the art hospital in Ethiopia( just one MRI machine costs 3 million dollars, building MRI suite costs half a million, CAT scan costs one million…). With dwindling credit access in the west they have to work with woyane to raise the capital.Unfortunately woyane will use this for PR purposes. For the doctors the choice is between giving woyane PR coverage and doing good or to do nothing.

    Jegnaw Ethiopiawe replies:

some time doing nothing is doing more,if that doing nothing is not going to enslave Ethiopia. my doing nothing is helpful to Ethiopia then that person (doctor) is doing more for his country. than a person that kills in the name of doing good or in the name of investment.

If my doing good destroy es then my good is not good at all.
that is what we been telling the doctors in nutshell..

    Tilahun replies:

The doctors are not enslaving anyone, they just want to open a private hospital and help Ethiopian patients those who are able to pay. If they don’t do it someone else will do it. We already have a Korean Private hospital in Addis. Professor Asrat W/Yes for example could have worked in the west with all top notch training he got but decided to work in Ethiopia under one of the most undemocratic, blood thirst dictatorship the world has ever seen. But on the other hand he helped lots of Ethiopian and made a difference in people’s lives. If the doctors want to do business and help then leave them alone.

but if they go in rural area to help the poor i am all for it.
but i know they are not going to Ethiopia to help the poor.but the elite TPLF and there stooges who are looting Ethiopia Boone dry are the targets of this Hodams doctors.

  2. Good words, that will serve as “just for the record”,but if the Doctors feel big headed and go on with their money-maniac-ego I am sure in few years one of them will have the gut to come back on this site and cry for his lost investment as most Diasporas did in 90’s and early 2000.
Think twice or even trice if need be because it is your money and the people of Ethiopia.Actually it isn’t your(the doctors) money that is needed here,it’s your image to present tplf as having mass support and cover up their atrocities in order to secure foreign aid. Most importantly it will give an excuse for the international community to provide bloody aid money that will sustain repression of the Ethiopian people.

  3. dear ethiopian doctors, do you know any country where organized shiftas control state power and form government? I think it is ethiopia where you want to invest….haaaaaa….so think twice before you do.

  4. Stop talking about Ethiopian doctors. Don’t forget that there are a lot of Ethiopian doctors who pay sacrifice for freedom and liberty and freedom. The late Asrat, Workeneh,Beyane are few examples. There are also many who do oppose the thugs who are ruining Ethiopia.

There fore, stop your generalization here. Just do what you are supposed to do than generalizing things.

It is like saying “the Amharas, the Oromos, the Gurages etc”

    Give me a break,

    lema replies:

It is always a difficult choice! Professor Asrat elected to work in Ethiopia under blood thirsty dictatorship. But on the other hand he helped a lot of Ethiopians.Did he help legitimize the derg regime ? probably yes. But was it a right decision to make? probably yes.

    Jegnaw Ethiopiawe replies:

We know what you are trying to do. you can not descries professor Asrat by putting him withe DERG.
and as bad as DERGU was,DERGU never sold Ethiopian women and children to Arabs, never sold Ethiopian land to foreigners.never sucked Ethiopia Bone dray like this parasite TPLF.so please don’t tarnish professor Asrat name in order to feel good about your self or whatever your motive is..

  6. Who is anonymous? You have a last name. Why do you even bother to write if you are so scared to let us know who you are. If you have to hide your real identity, why should I bother to read your article. nobody cares what you have to say

  7. This weyane initiative towards the doctors reminds me what weyane official said to capitain Teshome Tenkolu. “Your country needs you” I am 100% sure weyanes is going to profit from it not the poor ethiopians. soon we will see ETV broadcasting propaganda ” doctors who fled from derg regime are coming back to their belove & democratized country to serve the poors…….”

  8. Dear Anonymous and all,

My fellow Ethiopians may I beg everyone of us to really listen to what we are saying? May ask everyone of us to examine ourselves if something is not blinding; our eyes to see clear, and our mind to think right? Don’t you think we should air our opposition in the right perspective? What I see is we are saying it should be my way or no way. For the sake of cheap political gain, our actions (oppositions) are hurting further the poor people, whose freedom we claim are fighting for. I advise you be a bit creative and find other strategy that works against political gain of the government. Not by simply stepping on the foot of the poor.

    Jegnaw Ethiopiawe replies:

    TAZABI
We are not heir for political gain, we are heir because we love our country and we don’t like what is happening to our beloved country Ethiopia buy this narrow minded TPLF. destroying the fabric of Ethiopia to the core and exposing Ethiopia to a great danger that has never been seen in all of Ethiopia’s history.
So Mr. you are the real threat you come here as if you have Ethiopia’s interest at heart but you are fake.

  9. ELIAS U ARE REALY NIVE,.,.HOW STOPID DO U THINK ETHIOPIANS ARE EXPT (DIAPORA)U THINK PPL WILL STAND AND SEE MELLES PIK AND KILL OTHER ETNICS,.,WOW THE WAREST THING ABOPUT U SO CALLED OP. IS U UNDERMINE THE POWER AND INTELLEGENSE OF OUR BRIGHT PPL GOD BLES THEM,.,DEAD TO U AND SHAEBIA

  10. what is wrong with building a hospital for the rich???. i mean if a nation can not serve those who can afford, how is it going to serve its poor??can you answer that?..please stop trying to convince those of us who are not blinded by hate, it wont work. just say you want “the country to go down the flush taking meles with her and building a referal hospital to keep and attract affluent ethiopians into the country, will only slow down your dream”..how about that???

    Jegnaw Ethiopiawe replies:

    sammy
cos your TPLF are serving by the misery of Ethiopian poor and buy exploiting 85 million Ethiopian. and we don’t want the doctors to serve this blood sucking TPLF and prolonging the misery of all the poor and 85 million Ethiopian from the yoke of WOYANNE.

    Sammy replies:

my TPLF, wow? so that is your reason. well how about those ethiopians who are not “my tplf”, such as those who move to ethiopia from abroad or those locals who are financially better off, yet they have to leave ethiopia simply because they cant get the kind of medical treatment their money can buy? lets not play game, the true reason you dont want this hospital is the same reason you dont want to see any thing positive in ethiopia. like i said you want the country to go down the flush taking meles with her so you can take his place with what ever is left of her, but fortunately not many ethiopians are with you. even on this site i am sure 50% who cheer loudest are eritreans.

    J Ethiopiawe replies:

my concern is ETHIOPIAN nothing else.

  11. Maybe the doctors have a realistic understanding on the situation and know working together will in the long run will achieve a better outcome than promoting civil obedience, boycotts, and violence.

RE:Healers or Enablers? The case of Ethiopian doctors in exile

One of the many reasons given for the continued brain drain of African professionals, aside the human right-issue, is that the governments in Africa fail to facilitate for returnees. Hence most would go back within few years, or even few months for that matter, after they arrive in countries of their origin. The brain drain of African professionals costs the continent in Billions. The brain drain is said to be one of the factors that contributes to Africa’s high poverty, illiteracy, disease and etc.

Having said so, I would say any form of an attempt by these professionals to return home should be; must be and ought to be encouraged. Unfortunately, a recent effort by Ethiopian doctors to move back home has been seen as crime by some die-hard, “ENE KEMOTKU SERDO AYEBKEL” singers

What is the logic behind this current opposition to the attempt being made by the professionals to return home? The writer of the article “Healers or Enablers? The case of Ethiopian doctors in exile” has spent some time to tell us how many Ethiopian doctors are in the USA and how 46% Ethiopians wish, according to a survey, to get out of the country.

Actually, I am surprised to learn only 46% wanted to leave Ethiopia, as the number seems very close to that of number of Europeans who wish to leave their birth place for USA and Canada. The writer tell us that the brain-drain is, “…a huge loss to the poor nation.” yet, he opposed the attempt being made to correct the problem. The writer continues to tell us, “…even if these doctors go back home, their return won’t make any significant difference as they will be serving only rich Ethiopians who have the money to go oversea for treatment anyways.”

I read similar articles in the past, but this one is idiocy at its best! How on earth one dare tell us that,” Most of the Ethiopian doctors are here in the US based on political asylum for fear of persecution by the Woyanne regime?” The writer seems to forget the fact that his article is going to be read by Ethiopians. I am sure majority of Ethiopians don’t suffer from Amnesia as the writer does. Be it most doctors, or other of Ethiopian origin, left the county during Mengistu Haile-Mariam for fear of being prosecuted by the military junta.

The notions outlined by the writer as to how the woyane regime discriminates on those who are not of Tigrean origin seem to be self-contradictory. I am not here to make a case against the so called tribal practice, nor am I here to prove its validity. According to a list of names of the doctors in question, as presented by Mr Kifle several days ago, majority of them are non-Tigreans.

The funniest part of the writer’s article is in one particular paragraph where he attempts to make the doctors in question feel guilty. He writes, “…Doctors, let’s be honest and be true to ourselves…” This is really a carp!! Where does the writer stand? Is he/she here to promote socialism the way I would love to? If that is the case, then stop accusing woyane for being Marxist. Of course the doctors are going home to make a difference in their pocket, among other. I don’t see anything wrong with that. What on earth has the writer been doing here in North America? Oh he/she must have been volunteering to server his/her community; possibly young homeless Ethiopians, right?

If it is okay for Ethiopian doctors to treat American rich, I don’t see anything wrong with their attempt to do so for Ethiopian riches. After all the rich got the money to spend by going oversea for treatment, hence I don’t see any reason why not Ethiopian doctors get that money instead of the Indians or others; at least the Ethiopian doctor spend/invest his money locally. He hires servants, guard, cleaners, and secretaries in his office. You see that is a job opportunity for an employed sister of yours back home.
The doctor may want to relax after a long busy day. He may go to a bar, a hotel, or some Tej-bet, and who knows, there too can be an employment opportunity for one of your unemployed family member- bless the doctor!! And remember that the rich Ethiopian who is supposed to go oversea for treatment will save some money because he is being taken care of by local doctor. That means he has more money to spend/invest inside the country.

The writer’s advice and warning to the doctors is amazing. I hope they will listen to him/her. But again, how could they? If I were one of these doctors, I will be totally confused by the content as I would have no idea as to what the writer is talking about. One second the writer talks about Ethiopian riches, before one finishes, boom, the reader finds oneself in Burma. As one is enjoying the visit in Burma-Boom- the reader is all the sudden in Sudan. Guess who shows up? Azeb!! As we are about to have some quality time with Azeb – boom- we found ourselves in Gambella, balala, lalala!! What is that the writer is trying to write about?

More confusing is the mentioning of renowned journalist Eskinder Nega. I have no idea what Mr Eskinder doing in this telkasha-article. Not only the writer brings Mr Eskinder in his/her article, but attempts to paint him as a looser; who is languishing in jail possibly facing a death penalty. Mr Eskinder has successfully demonstrated the true nature of TPLF’s government beyond the Ethiopian boarder. He brought the evil out of TPLF. The fact that he has been arrested does not necessarily make him a looser; for the looser in this case is TPLF. The latter, as part of its suppression tactic, throw Mr Nega and others into Prison threatening them with charges of terrorism, the last resort of the government against its political oppositions. Unfortunately, for a power thirsty die hard, “ENE KEMOTKU SERDO AYBKEL” singers such as the writer, anything minus political power means to loose.

I tell you what; I got a grand political solution to overthrow Melez Zenawi. Stop sending money to your mammy, daddy, your little sister, Mimi, and the rest of your relatives. Remember, Meles is living on the money you send them. Let’s see how a patriot you are! Loool!!

    Good day

in one hand you disrespect Ethiopian who are not in the same thinking as you are, and in the other hand you tell us Ethiopia is much better today than tan 20-30 years past in the hand of your master TPLF. but the situation in Ethiopia it dos not support your view.and on 3rd hand your out to support TPLF and you want us to supported with you. you are really one confused individual.the word TPLF and Ethiopia don’t go hand in hand.so really your barking in the wrong forum. like I told you before( your a victim of you life experience) i know you told me you never heard that expression before but i assure you it is philosophical expression so really think about it may help you.

And it is not about the doctors but who this doctors are serving, Ethiopia or this blood sucker TPLF who are in power. that is the question…

    Ezana from Tronto replies:

Hey Jegnaw ethiopiaw, you are following me everywhere, ha…sira fet:-)

Okay now, where on earth did I say 20-30 years? Where da hell ya got that from, body? Look at the way you talk: “master” That is very much like you;something you inherit from your past and/or oppressor daddy and grand daddy. You only know how to define a man as servant or master. You need to get out of that past; there is no place for this type of mentality in Ethiopia of today.

The other problem with you is that if one disagrees with those of you who claim to be patriots and the only one who stand for Ethiopia, then one becomes pro TPLF. You know what, I heard a very similar argument on ethiopiafirst.com where one accused me for being pro-Ginbot whatever. I told him something which I am also going to tell you: GOOGLE ME. I am a free thinker; I don’t belong to any party, group or edir/ekub/mahber. I look at an issue for what it is; rather than who write it. There is no such thing that someone is totally wrong or right. There are things I support and disagree about your views and/or stands. That goes to TPLF too. I don’t think you can do that, because you are a prisoner of your party and supporters, ethnic group and etc. YOU ARE A FANATIC!!

As far as i am concerned, i don’t see any different between your type and those of TPLF fanatics. You guys speak the same language. They call you terrorist, you call them banda/anti ethiopia bla bla bla.

    Good day, my friend

    Ezana from Toronto replies:

Jignaw, you are really funny:-) Why should i hate Amhara when I am Amhara myself? I don’t hate you or love you because you belong to a certain ethnic group. That is something you do; not me. I don’t like what is written by hatemongers chauvinistic Amhara such as you are; nor do I like any form of narrow minded theory by any other group.

Definitely I am a free thinker; you got to be a free thinker to question some of the things directed by people of your own ethnic group. Oh, I forgot there is another name for those free thinkers: Hodam Amhara. Lool

Loool!!

    Good day

WOYANNES are out in force on this article.I,wonder why?

  14. It is patetly clear as a day light, these so called Drs foremost goal is to make money. That is all. Nothing more and nothing less. Do they have a right to make money? They do. But, they have no right to lie and mask their true identity aand goal as one of helping the poor Ethiopian who footted the bill for their free education. The majority of these Drs are graduates of the AAU and Gondar medical schools.

It is indeed a shame to sit and dine with the likes of Girma Birru and his cohorts who have massacred 200+ Ethiopians just a few years ago. Some of the Drs even claim they are born again Christians. What a shame! Is this in line with the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ? No, not in a million years.

  15. Ezana
why do you care about Ethiopia? do you care the thousand and thousand of Ethiopian sold to Slavery? do you care about Ethiopian land been sold to foreigners next to nothing?do you care about the people that have been evicted from there ancestral home?do you care about Ethiopian and been given to Sudan?do you care the little children forced to prostitute in the street of Addis Abeba?do you care about everything that belong to ethiopia is looted by tplf blood suckers? or you just heartless trying to defend the worst murderers in Ethiopian history?or trying to tell us history that dos not exist, only exist in your diluted mind?or you want to tell us a history that you have learned on YOUTUBE? or are you trying to teach about American rap like the notorious BIG? knowing about something and really knowing are two different thing.learning to wright English it dos not make you knowledgeable…

    Ezana from Toronto replies:

To the wanna be Jignaw Ethiopiawe, whatever!

Hey shorty, What slavery are you talking about? The slavery that Haile Selassie was forced to abolish in order to join league of nations? Go and google me, i am against the land deal with foreigners. I don’t know anyone who is evicted from ancestral home. Ethiopia given to Sudan? Why don’t you do something about it, instead of screaming in my ears. Prostitution in Addis Ababa? you need to talk to your daddy who is the demand. Any idea about demand and supply economics? I don’t think so. That is one of the reason why you need to go to school and get some education. If your daddy stays loyal to your mamma, then there will be no demand for sex; hence the sex workers might be looking somewhere else. Prostitution has been in Addis and most of Ethiopia’s cities for a very long, long time. Now you are accusing Woyane over that, you gotta be kidding me!! Looted by TPLF? looted what? What can one possibly loot from a nation that depends on a hand out? come’n, be serious!! No, TPLF is not the worest murderer in Ethiopian history. While there number of past Ethiopian leaders who committed crime against humanity, the most recent one is your uncle, Mengistu Hailemaridam. TPLF is nowhere close to anyone of them, even HaileSelassie. Shorty, I still think you need to get some education.

  16. To the self aclaimed free thinker, Ezana.

I am surprized how you deliberately distort the content of the article “healers or enablers?”

Do you have difficulty understanding English? How do you fail to understand why the case of the Burmis doctor is mentinioned in the article to draw a contrast between the the former and these Ethiopian investor doctors? you must be so stupid or a deliberate woyane serving person not understand as to why the case of Gambella, the Amharas, and others was mentioned in the article. In case if you still have difficulty understanding English, let me make it plain. It is to mention some of the atrocities of the woyane junta and make argument to some of the well meaning doctors that they should not do business.

It is for sure most of these physicians are in the west on the basis of political asylum.

Why do you have to lie in saying that most doctors left Ethiopia during the derg? It is indeed during the minority led regim of Woyane.
I know you have to make your masters happy, so you tell lies.

Do you realy don’t understand why Eskindir, Yenesew, Dr Fisiha, and others are mentioned? I suspect your competence. Once again it is to show how the minority Woyanne led junta criminalizes free thinking, speech and independent entrepneurship;hence, these doctors should not engage in business with the criminal governement.

You claim that you are an Amhara. It is ironic that you advocate doing business with Woyane while 78000 Amharas are currently forcefully displaced from their lands. Is it it not ethnic cleansing? What do you say mr Amhara? If you are Amhara as you claim, you must be the MOST HODAM AMHARA.

It is pathetic that you say the doctors will treat the rich and creat business by going to tej bet, hiring maids, bla bla. Even this argument won’t work as the doctors will not move to Ethiopia, time spent in Ehtiopia is maximum 2 weeks per physician per year. This is the woyane style economics you advocate.

Take care Ezana. Hopefully, you will come to your senses one day.

  17. tazabi said “It is for sure most of these physicians are in the west on the basis of political asylum”, yes in fact many ethiopians in the west apply for political asylum to become legal, but on the other hand you have thousands of them visiting ethiopia each week thats why you have 5 flights a week just from the state, while some, who are financially successful, decide to stay there for good. what does this tell you?
well the obvious, which is no matter who is in menelik palace ethiopians will leave their poor life in ethiopia for better opportunities!
    this is the bitter truth.

    Amhara man replies:

Let me understand your math 1000 doctors going to Ethiopia every week.
we have 52 week in a year so 52X1000=52000 i think you are fool of it.
and i taught you were a free thinker why change your pal name? Ezana from Toronto to re-tazabi.?wow you are amazing you are not fooling any one little prick…

    re-tazabi replies:

amara man please read my comment again, this time carefully. if you still dont get it replace ‘doctors’ with ‘ethiopians’ in your tally…and you will get 52,000 ethiopians from all walks of life such as cab drivers, parking lot attendants, engineers, doctors etc etc…you get it!

  18. To #20,

How about you? How did you get your residence in Canada assuming that you live there?

Per your last comment you agree that most of the doctors are in the West on the basis of political asylum granted to them. Then, they must have lied on their application if they abandoned their claim of fear of persecution from the Woyane and start doing business with it. Should the FBI investigate them? what do you say?

    Take care.

    Anonymous replies:

Bravo you got him…you see the hepocrassy..

    re-tazabi replies:

well why would FBI even waste their time on this when the INS knows many of these people are fake and still let them loose, any ways you can try to inform them and see what happens.
