35th day since Ethiopia’s dictator has been missing

Except for very few individuals in the ruling TPLF junta, no body knows exactly where Ethiopia’s khat-addicted dictator currently is. Today is the 35th day since he disappeared from the public view. Rumor is surfacing again this morning that he — or his dead body — is hiding or placed in a refrigerator at Berhane GebreKristos’ house in Brussels, Belgium.

Western diplomats — who can easily get such information from the intelligence services of their countries — are keeping mum or they just don’t care. The international media is not asking questions. If Al Bashir, Mugabe or another dictator disappears for this long, every major international news media would have assigned several reporters to investigate. This shows how inconsequential Ethiopia under the Woyanne junta has become to the international community.

In the mean time, it is not clear who is in charge of the “government,” in Ethiopia currently. The TPLF Central Committee is holding another secret meeting today, and the security apparatus Meles has put in place seems to be running the show for now.

  1. This does not show how Ethiopia has become inconsequential. The diplomats started talked last week until they were muzzled by US since they need a smooth transition. It shows how they want his succession to go in the interest of those that have power. Unless the Obama admin works to bring about the path to a better and democratic Ethiopia only focusing the Woyane fabricated threats in the region, then Ethiopians shall be rest assured that the US being played by the Woyanes. This is the time to demand the Obama admin to start to use this opportunity to bring a lasting peace in Ethiopia.

  2. Elias you hit it in the nail with your assertion that “how inconsequential Ethiopia has become to international community under woyane junta “. We’ve seen western media’s indifference when the TPLF clique rig votes on two occasions in order to grip to power and killed hundreds of protesters on broad day light. We have seen their disregard as to how badly Meles and co. misbehave when international laws are broken at will allowing the decaying regime to invade and occupy sovereign nations.
No question that the clique will pay the price for its gross human rights abuse and lawlessness just as its predecessors. No bad deed goes unpunished either by the almighty God or by the will and determination of the oppressed.

  3. “Meles Zenawi is slowly and agonisingly dying — of cancer. This is a bit of good news that has come our way in some time.“ was reported by Elias Amare in 2011. But lot of people they tool it as a joke.
