Breaking News: Ethiopians use new bulbs – BBC

December 18th, 2008 |  |  6 Comments

EDITOR’S NOTE: It’s been a while since BBC has stopped reporting any serious news about Ethiopia. Its correspondent in Addis Ababa reports about such news as energy-saving light bulbs while ignoring all serious political developments around her for fear of being expelled from the country.

Addis Ababa (BBC) – Ethiopians are rushing to get their hands on free energy-saving light bulbs which are being handed out by a utility to stop power cuts.

Four million low-energy light bulbs are being given away in exchange for old-style incandescent ones by the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation.

Nearly all Ethiopia’s electricity comes from hydro-power. But without rain the dams cannot fill and the lights go out.

The new bulbs will cut peoples’ power bills and are supposed to last longer.

The BBC’s Elizabeth Blunt says the light bulb swap was in full swing when she visited the utility’s offices in the capital Addis Ababa.

But our correspondent says the snag is that when the new bulbs wear out, customers will find they cost about six times as much as the old ones to replace.

The masters need some good news to prop up their puppet, this is nothing new, it has been going for decades, they only report bad news to preempt it from destroying their puppet. My Ethiopian brothers and sisters don’t let the claim of the so called free western media fool you. The BBC is an arm of the British propaganda machine just like VOA is for the US. This is all a coordinated machine that works in concert with each other, the diplomats, the economic hit men, the military mercenaries, intelligence agencies and of course meida all work to shape peoples perception of reality. We Eritreans have been facing this kind of challenges for decades and don’t fall for their pschological warfare, even the NGOs are part of the deal. Their interests matter the most to them not the interest of the people of Ethiopia.

This is the work of the Agazzi Propaganda ministry. The Propaganda Tsar, Berket Simon, runs a multi million dollar operation. The operation uses the services of certain intelligence agencies, international organizations, certain media outlets, journalists, academics, NGO’s, lobbyists, lawmakers, think tanks..etc..etc.

In fact, the East German trained x-Derg propaganda specialists are employed for this evil mission tom hoodwink the Ethiopian people.

The BBC is definitely an arm of the British propaganda machine. Why would they tell the world about the famine in Ethiopia, the incarceration of thousands of innocent civilians for many years, in short the total lack of human rights and justice, after all Prime Minister Gordon Brown, like Tony Blair, seems to condone Meles’ crimes. Elizabeth Blunt wants to tell the world that there is nothing amiss in Ethiopia and in fact the country is advancing – ‘Oh look they are using energy-saving bulbs!’ What a farce! She is not afraid of being expelled. So what if she is expelled, it goes with the territory. If it was the fear of being expelled, how come the BBC is reporting on Zimbabwe from neighboring countries? It’s just that the BBC and the British Government want to keep their pet tyrant happy at whatever cost.

When Meles is gone for good – I hope the Ethiopian people will not forget how they have been treated by some of these so called democratic countries.
