ethiopian pilot, you are the just the kind of person i was talking about. first you talk some sense then you talk some crap. you should have continued to secondary school. passengers do not research airlines before boarding them. aircraft have certain minimum maintenance standard that if not achieved, the airline would fail its licence, so don’t talk rubbish asking me what i was doing boarding ET. Actually, i was not complaining, i was stating some naked truths. the fault lies with ET or Boeing full stop or arat netab as you call it.

Your comment reflects, 1+1=2……….for sure you would not use airplane any more.

Meles and Woyane, through their Tigrean thugs by the name of Tewolde, Tesfaye Ambaye and Desta Berhe, are in the process of destroying Ethiopian Airlines. In the last few years the Airline personnel (pilots, technicians and even hostess/pursers) are being replaced by incompetent and illiterate Tigres. All so called anti-hijackers working on all Ethiopian flights are also illiterate Tigres. So nothing should be a surprise – until we get rid of this parasites who are draining Ethiopia into ruins.

hold on everybody. first off all, to all Ethiopians who are proud of our airline, I would like to say that this airline has been going down the hill with the stupid management that we hhave right now(ato tewolde(woyane), and girma wake(i dont know)).so from now on such kinds of events are not going to surprise me because every skilled manpower including pilots is leaving the airline because of the incompetent working conditions and pay that is so shit that aircraft cleaner in London heathrow make more that an Ethiopian airline pilot.

and that other guy who was complaining,in the first place why did you even board ethiopian airlines. If you even had the slightest idea what kinds of incompetent and non airworthy airplanes that we fly. So if your life has a meaning,shut your pie hole and avoid ethiopian airlines

i honestly don’t follow all this meaningless chanting about national pride and the rest of it. the fact of the matter is that someone in ethiopia – technician, engineer or whatever tried to cause my death and the death of more than 130 people on board that aircraft through errors of ommision or commision or is that the fault of Boeing. Will you please shut up if you don’t have anything sensible to say. some people need to find out more about how aircraft work and are supposed to be serviced before annoying the rest of us with their ignorance. a little bit of school never killed anyone.

Human Beings are not always perfect. We can not avoid accidnet only with proper service. some times it is wise to remember some safety rule procedures during an incident which forces for emergency landing.

Thus Ethiopian Airlines and our competent and proficient Pilots are our National pride. Mashaalah!

I would also like to share you a comment I got from http://www.timesofmalta.com as follows:

All passenger aircraft including the Boeing 757-200 are designed to fly on one engine even if they suffer an engine failure during takeoff or landing. This Ethiopian Boeing 757-200 sustained an inflight engine shutdown during cruise and as per standard procedure the pilots opted to land at the nearest airport. In no way should this incident be compared to the Souix City accident where a United Airlines DC-10-10 suffered a major malfunction in engine number two where the engine’s fan disintegrated due to a production flaw which lead to cracks to span out and crack the whole fan structure. In that case debris from the engine punctured the aircraft’s hydraulic lines and disabled all three hydraulic systems and due to loss of hydraulic fluid leading to loss of hydraulic pressure the aircraft became uncontrollable to a certain extent. In this case the Ethiopian Boeing 757-200 sustained an inflight engine shut down with no further repercussions to any other aircraft key systems. It is standard practice to declare a ‘Mayday’ when an aircraft sustains an inflight engine shut down because it would be given priority to land at the nearest airport and the airport in question would prepare for an emergency.

This aircraft has been tested by Boeing for its performance in flying one engine, and also able to land with single engne provided that single engine landing procedure is followed. If this is the fact, why we appreciate our performance for nothing? But the question is that why this engine has failed in contrary to the fact that this Pratt engine (PW2000) is dependable provided that PROPER SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE IS CARRIED OUT?

Despite the plane having only one working engine, other than a slight swerve and immediate correction on touchdown, it was almost a textbook landing. well done pilots and aircrew. Then ….. you abandoned us at Malta International Airport where the poor Air Malta ground crew worked beyond human capability to see us onward to Rome and London. Thank you Air Malta.
