February 3rd, 2009 |  |  15 Comments

Rome, Italy – An Ethiopian Airlines jet was forced to make an emergency landing today in Rome due to engine failure.

The Rome fire department said that nine rescue teams have rushed to Fiumicino’s airport this morning due to a call regarding an emergency landing made by the pilot of a B-757 Ethiopian Airlines plane with 147 passengers and nine crew members on board.

The airplane’s pilot said that shortly after taking off from Rome-Fiumicino airport a damage to an engine has occurred forcing emergency landing.

All passengers on board are safe.

This is for second time with in a month. It is also the same route rome-Addis ababa. What is wrong with the jet? I think EAL must have used the one which made an emergency landing in Malta again with out a good mantatinance. I am sure this will affect the reputation. I even may not try the Ethiopian airlines again.

Woyanne hit the Airlines as hard as it could by filling it with unqualified corrupt TPLF members from top to bottom. They managed to modify the quality specifications to their business partners liking for many years.Siye Abraha The notoriously corrupt ex-Defence Minister and ex-Airlines Board Chairman is the number one person to be held accountable for dismantling the Qualified Airlines Personell and replacing them with his own gang that reduced the quality of the technologies to satisfy the demands of the suppliers who were very greatfull to him in return for his favor.

Two emergency landings within one month!Again, due to engine failure. Surprising! Better to avaid using Ethiopian Airlines. Using outdated engines and aricrafts is part of Meles’ ‘economic development’.

Sorry I don’t mean to say that. I use EAL, casue it shows that the pilots are excellent and would like to extend my admiration to all the workers of EAL. But the gov’t should fire its cadres from EAL, because they interfer a lot in the technical works, Some body please tell them that it is not revolutionary democracy.

hey this is not new, the pilots have been making emergency landing before and they will make in the future when they they have to. It is not only EAL that does this, you cann’t avoid problems, but can reduce it. One thing however I should stress is that “we must provide critisize positively and should not send a message not to use EAL” because it is ours. Thanks

Incidents like this are now frequent with the Ethiopian Airline opeartions. It is no surprise that now Woyane has installed incompetent Tigrean management – Tigre officials who are running the airline into a ditch, and who are directly reporting to Meles the murderer that include “TEWOLDE, TESFAYE AMBAYE, and DESTA”. Ethiopian Airline can only be restored when this Tigre parasites go back to where they came from!!!

What an expert analysis on EAL! Do you know EAL grew doubling its size in all parameters from its 60 years history in just 5-6 years? It is always good to show a concern & pass constractive criticism however, some commenters are going so low & even pull the race card here. Those guys at the top management are working day & night to help the Airline soar higher & higher. Swallow your pride & learn to appreciate. ‘Ethiopian’ today, whether we like it or not, is ‘African’s most successful airline’.

Thanks Bruck Tesfaye. Really wise. Please avoid hatred & try to know who those managers are.Find out more about them before using a foul language.Do you think the airline became successful by miracle?
