“The decolonization of the Ethiopian mind” I totally agree with you about the existsence of rasicsm in ethiopia. every time I take the Ethiopian Air Lines among the hostesses I have never seen a single person representing Gmabela or from another opressed ethnic group. When ever I raise the existence of racism in ethiopia among the so clled elite group or even among my friends no one want to accept its truism. We need to write more on this issue, we need to translte books written by black authors and educate our people to deccolonize their mind.
Thank you for raising this issue beause it became a barrier to communicate with other African brothers and sisters.

The author is a sensible man in the opposition camp but his articles are boringly too long for average Ethiopian readers, yet a very good writer.

Unless one is Utopian, racism in one form or another will persist however one has fight, but will be there. Therefore in Ethiopian context we have to accept this will remain to exist in it’s current setup. Mengistu of the Derg was the one who tried to dismantle to some extent with the land issue and continued to be improved by the existing regime with it’s federal system but short of not implementing in it’s fullest meaning. Therefore establishing ethnic right and equality is one way of fighting racism, more effective than the seemingly unity & democracy mantra the northerns advocate.
