Woyanne claims it killed top rebel leaders in eastern Ethiopia

March 20th, 2009 |  |  12 Comments

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (ST) — The regime of Tigrean People Liberation Front (Woyanne) in Ethiopia on Thursday said that its forces has destroyed OLF (Oromo liberation Front) and ONLF (Ogaden National Liberation Front) rebels who were regrouping in the southeastern part Ethiopia.

A statement released by the ministry of defense says that Woyanne forces in a military mission carried out during the past few days have killed and captured undisclosed number of top military leaders and fighters of the OLF and ONLF.

Among those killed includes Dr. Mohamed Serri, an ONLF leader who led the attack at a Chinese-run oil exploration site in the Ogaden region in 2007 that left 74 people dead, including 9 Chinese, according to the Woyanne statement.

Furgasa, OLF military chief in Ethiopia’s south east and central committee of OLF is also the key person among those captured, according to the Woyanne regime statement, which states that he admitted that he has been carrying out direct orders coming by phone from the OLF headquarters in Eritrea.

During the military mission a number of weapons, satellite phones, video cassettes and documents are seized, the statement added.

    Dear Elias:

This fellow, Tesfa-alem Tekle, is totally unreliable. Nine times out of ten his stories turn out to be lies. I think he is a weyane imposter. He reported a few months back that more than 100 Eritrean Police/military officials were killed by an explosion but nothing came out of it. I seriously think he is a weyane stooge. (Most of his stories appear on Sudan Tribune).

    Keep up the good work!
May God bless the people of Eritrea and Ethiopia!!!

Ain’t this guy the same Wayane stooge who used to write his day dreaming in the so called “Sudan??? Tribune” about his so called Afar rebels supposedly killing hundreds and hundreds Eritrean solders day in and day out?? Com’n ER? You should know better than that?? How in the world could you really fall for this known Wayane stooge criminal who say and do anything to prolong the hated and discarded Wayane mafia life? His crap might be fitted to those wayane sites like Aiga and ethiomedia front page, but not to the well respected voice of the voiceless ER come rain or shine!

I am just wondering, Is there anyone out there who actually believes what these guys say anymore. They can talk day and night, say whatever they want but surely have no credibilty.

It is sad that such people are running and effecting the lives of millions of Ethiopian people.

  7. weqaw says:

Actually the fact that this guy’s article gets posted in the so called “Sudan Tribune” (which, by the way, has nothing to do with the Sudan) gives one a big clue that this story is some wishful thinking. Do you guys remember a couple of months ago that some Afar rebels had stormed a party attended by Eritrean top brass and killed 285 Eritrean troups just like that when the troops were having somekind of party in broad day light and they walked away with nobody killed or captured on the reported Afar rebels!

  8. ababa says:

Hasn’t Meles shown his hate towards Ethiopia by giving many acres of land to Sudan free and clear? And let Eritrea go with out a fight? Why is he fighting in Ogaden—is there really oil in Ogaden?

I think Meles is scarifying well trained Ethiopian soldiers intentionally so no one will be left to fight him later.

Ogaden is almost free of Woyanne, except some pocket of locations.
The rest of the country will follow.

  10. Belachew Eskimaru says:

Hello dear brothers and sisters, I know some of you are upset, some of you happy, and some of you care less about all these claims of vitory and defeat by both sides. My take on this will be If you are not Ethiopian, you should not be given opportunity to step your evil foot in our soil ever. If any one thinks “Afe-mooz” would get you a piece out land like our uncles on the North, gook luck. All I can say is “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Soon or later, that day for democracy and freedom will come to the people of Ethiopia and to our friends. Everytime I read about these trench war fares in Eastern Ethiopia, It remindes me of the “Arbagugu” massacre of innocent citizens and still waiting to get justice. After all, the cloud will clear out and the the sun will shine hope to the people of Ethiopia.

    God Bless

  12. Amado says:

Woyane has never told the truth since it’s embarking on to the Ethiopian peoples heads. If it talks the truths, it can not stay for one day on our heads. It still trys to confuse the mass media and the Ethiopians by lying.
