This is a rough (very much literal) translation of the beginning of the speech.

Each group, he called the honored (honorable), and indicated at the end that these are in no particular order.

Honored people of our country;

Nations and nationalities who reside in the nine regions;

Residents of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa cities;

Respected Ethiopian Diaspora members;

Farmers and ranchers;

Intellectuals, university teachers, researchers, and students;

Homeless brothers and sisters;

Women, infants, and youth;

The handicapped;

Patriot fathers and pensioners;

Medium and large bourgeois, trade community members, and workers;

Cottage industry holders and workers;

Elementary and high school teachers and students;

Government employees and authorities;

Legal alternative political party leaders and members; and

Other Ethiopian community members
