AU erects statue for Nkrumah; Haileselassie is ignored

Postby Beli » 30 Jan 2012, 15:55

African leaders last Saturday honoured the memory of the founder and first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, with the unveiling of his magnificent statue at the forecourt of the imposing African Union (AU) building in Addis Ababa.

On hand to perform the unveiling ceremony in the Ethiopian capital was President John E vans Atta Mills.

He was assisted by the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Dr Jean Ping; the President of Equatorial Guinea and Chairman of the AU, Mr. Teodore Obiang Nguema; former President Jerry John Rawlings and other Heads of State and Government.

Other who were there to grace the occasion were Professor Francis Nkrumah, eldest son of Dr Nkrumah and Ms Samia Nkrumah, the only daughter of Dr Nkrumah, who is also the chairperson of the Convention People’s Party.

The unveiling of the statue formed part of an elaborate programme to inaugurate the new AU Conference Centre and office complex funded by the Chinese government.

The august audience which witnessed the ceremony rendered thunderous applause as President Mills unveiled the huge bronze statue of the illustrious son of Africa.

Dr Nkrumah led Ghana to independence on March 6, 1957, after nearly a century of British colonial rule.

He is regarded as one of Africa’s greatest statesmen. In December 1999, BBC listeners on the continent voted him as “Africa’s Man of the Millennium’’.

In 1978, the United Nations awarded Dr Nkrumah a posthumous gold medal during a session of the UN committee against the racist regime in South Africa.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Dr Ping paid glowing tribute Dr Nkrumah for his vision for Africa, saying the need to honour him was long overdue.

Prof. Nkrumah described the occasion as a great honour to Dr Nkrumah’s family and the people of Ghana and Africa.

"We feel overwhelmed by the honour. This is an indication that Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s spirit and ideals still live. What drove him to tread his path will drive all of us,’’ he said.

Ms Nkrumah said the ‘’whole family feels humbled, delighted and honoured to participate in this great occasion’’.

She said the programme by the AU was a powerful recognition of Dr Nkrumah’s ideals and conviction.

She said in a situation where trade within Africans amounted to only 10 per cent, there was the urgent need for leaders to work in the spirit of patriotism to improve the lives of their people.

"It is a passion. We are proud as Ghanaians and Africans and we must do the outmost to improve the lives of the majority of the people,’’ she said.

A Senior Presidential Staffer, Dr Don Arthur, said Dr Nkrumah’s statue had served as a reminder of the tragedy that Ghana went through, saying,
“All now know Dr Nkrumah’s invaluable contributions to Africa’s emancipation struggle.’’

"This is the statue we destroyed in Ghana years ago but which is being recognized and celebrated by the whole continent,’’ he said.

He said the statue symbolised Dr Nkrumah’s importance, stressing, ‘’ It is our duty to help the AU to unite Africa.

Speech at the 1964 O.A.U. Summit (1964) by Emperor Haile Selassie

Dear Friends:

Our quest, above all else, is to assure to Africa and to each African state the fullest and most complete measure of freedom - freedom from all remnants of colonialism; freedom from neo-colonialism, whatever form it may take; freedom from political and military threat; freedom from aggression; freedom from interference by others in our internal affairs; freedom from economic domination; freedom from the danger of nuclear destruction.

Revolution, sorry to disagree with you if you are trying to make him like saint, but that dead ethiopian midget leader Sellassie was as evil as the current other evil midget ethiopian leader meles chenawi in the eyes of us the Eritreans. The quote you mentioned above is just a lip service coming out of his twisted ugly mouth. And what you sow what you reap they say. As we all know now, he got what was coming to him and the fate of this dirty [deleted] leader won't be any different unless he run to Zimbabwe like mengistu taking billions of ethiopia's riches.
Had that ugly SOB sellassie was honest to his words (above), we would not even have to be dealing with these scum bags [deleted] as we speak. He was the cause of what we the Eritreans went through and partially...... still going through.
"assure to Africa and to each African state the fullest and most complete measure of freedom" my butt.

You are whining like a baby left in the cold world and he is still your daddy. In all fairness, his intent was to bring Eritrea into Ethiopia's fold for what many can argue is a strategic reason for Ethiopia's children, including Eritreans. You can question his tactics, not his strategic goal, that includes uniting Africans.

You douch bag you said the midget evil sellassie's intention was to bring Eritrea into ethiopia's fold for your interests? That was the problem we had with him you weasel. How about our interest? Eritreans are not ethiopia's children. Get it in your thick skull you moron. If like you said his intention was good, why did not he invade the Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda and even as far as South Africa and take down their flags, replace theirs, with ethiopian flag and force them to learn amharic dropping their own and make them second class citizens in their own? United Africa my arse.
Hey sh**t for brains, I got news for you. That dwarf leader of yours was as evil as hitler in our eyes. And you do not have a say on how we view him and his policies towards our people and nation. You are not Eritrean. Like the saying in your language goes:
Yewega biressa, yetewega airessam".
And like I always say in this form, we the Eritrean people are very peace loving people and we understand how crooked your past and present leaders are and also understand that we can not relocate Eritrea far away from the region, and accepted it to deal with you accordingly keeping in mind that we shall never forget how evil your leaders were and are, no matter who your next leader is. Forgive? May be. It depends on, if you ever are going to get a leader who cares about his own and stop looking what its neighbor nation is doing internally or how it is developing its own assets and be envy to the death, and do every thing evil possible, that it fails. In short get a leader who has not the wicked crab mentality syndrom, who will be happy if he sees his neighboring people are having peace of mind and are happy for what ever they have instead of putting logs on their progress highway just because...
Yes, again, that SOB midget sellassie was the devil himself in our eyes. How would you feel if me an Eritrean come to your domain univited and screw your mom and your sister? That is just an expression of speech. Because, I will never touch an ethiopian lady, even with a broom stick for your information.
Can you see the hate I have towards every ethiopian in general and the [deleted] in particular? And it will be so, until I die or hopefully until you accept the fact that your regimes who represented you in the past and are representing you now, abused, killed, raped, concocted, fabricated lies after lies to destroy us and you just shut your mouths and do not tell your regime to stop it. In my eyes you all are responsible to what happened to us during sellassie & mengistu periods as much as you are now. Not that we need any help from you to fight our fight, but just to be honest to yourselves for a change. Because we the Eritreans never owed you any thing and do not owe you anything as we speak either. All these Eritrea is distibilizing the region crab is just a crab. And all the smearing our leaders as monsters, putting aside what yours are, is none of your business. Our leaders are not leading your nation. Quit shedding your crocodile tears about the well being of people you hate deep inside you, but for your argument sake assume as if you care or love. Because as Eritreans we might feel bad to what your regime is doing to its people all over ethiopia, but trust me we will not shed a single drop of tear for them and it is none of our business to tell the world how evil they are, just because we want the world to punish you. They are your people, they are your leaders and you all deal with it as you please. And all we ask is to be respected and left alone to fry bigger fish forgetting that you even exist.
So again, yes, sellassie was a devil, mengistu was a bucher and meles is an evil creature in the Eritrean eyes. They all are stained with Eritreans blood.
Now go wash your arse with "barakina". You stink.

Take the first step to civility before opening your dirty mouth. Drop your hypocritical "we," "our," "us," words and your claims that "you and your government" are the same, and "you hate us deep inside." Apparently, you don't know what you are talking about in this regard. Your feeling that everybody out there who criticizes you hates you is not healthy.

Hey the irony is that the Eritrean people were the most civilized people in the whole Africa prior to your midget evil sellassie set his foot in Eritrea and sent you dirty, uncivilzed people from your country to learn one or two things from the Eritreans.
Eritrea was the most industrialized nation not only in Africa, but was going toe to toe with the Europeans, untill you primitive people came to Eritrea and took us two steps back wards every year for 4o years when every other nation was going one step forward and while you were standing still where you were since your inception.
Do you really know the history of sellassie in Eritrea for real guy?

Let me say a few things of his evilness:

He took down the steel electric poles which were in Asmara, Massawa, replace them with wooden ones and took the steel to Addis. That is evil. Don't you say?
There was an Italian engineering marvel:
A cable car transport from Massawa to Asmara (over 40 miles along the mountains between Asmara and Massawa high on the sky, some of the hights 1000 feet over the mountains, an engineering marvel which does not even exist in now days civilization, was dismantled and sold as scrabs to the Japanese by the evil sellasie. We could have refubrished it and make it a tourist attraction if that devil never came to Eritrea.
The German Volkswagen corparation decided to construct a car assembly factory in Massawa, which was economically fisible for them...port vicinity...told by sellassie...Eritreans have too many factories...and hence they should build it in Addis. Moronic don't you say? They told him to go f*** himself and it was OK with him that they left rather than see it be bulit in Eritrea.
The East African Locust Organization head quarters was located in Asmara. He had it relocated to Addis. That is lose of employment to Eritreans.
He refused to recognize the Asmara University credentials and thus when the graduates complete their education, they can not even find a job according to their majors. He was forcing them to relocate to different parts of ethiopia to be teachers of elementary or highschools so that your people can learn from the best civilized and educated Eritreans.
There was one amazing functional object of its kind during those times: A moblie shipping dock. What did the devil sellasie do? You guess it. He sold it as scrabs to the Japanes as he usually was doing.
This is a tip of the iceberg he did to us. To make it easier for you just multply those evil deeds by 3.5 million times, and try to see the picture...yes I say "us" and our country "again yes I said our country". besides the more gruesome killing and raping his troops and your great fathers were doing on his name.
What the hell do you want me to say besides "us" "Eritreans" "we" "ours" "our government" "our leaders" and etc? I am not going to include you miserable people in what I say. You are not part of us. I care about us and about our nation. You and your kinds are just like a Kenyan or a congolese in our eyes. You do not have any special place in our hearts except haterd. And on our side there is no love lost between us and you. If you love us, it is your perogative. After all we know that we are the most lovable people in this planet.
As they say, respect is earned not granted. So, if you want to be respected by the Eritrean people whom you seem are in love with earn our respect by saying sorry for your leaders mistakes and for you ideling and see evil happening with out saying foul.
So, let me say this this:
Yes I am a proud Eritrean.
Yes I am very civilized.
Yes I am educated.
Yes, I say what is the truth.
Yes I do not like you people, until you come out and denounce your previous and current leaders on the way they act towards a people and a nation which did nothing to harm you or your country.
Yes I know what I am talking concerning my country and your evil leaderships. I was taken by the caring hand of my father all over Eritrea and told and shown all the miseries you people brought to my people and my country.
Positive criticism.....I would take. That is Eritrean culture. But when you lie, fabricate and dream and wish evil of envy or for what ever reason it is, I will not take. And you people are not critisizing of caring or because you want Eritrea to be a wonderful place. You are just saying, "let no grass grow, if my cattle are not going to graze on it." And we are Eritreans,..... we are capable of growing grass upside down on the Eritrean mountains, with out begging any white man's or Chinese help.
Don't we make you sick the way we brag? Well what can I say, we are the "we can do people" and we earned to brag for we are proving the world that there is life with out the IMF, NGOs, and from waiting with our mouths open like you do, for some white dude's silver spoon to feed us and in return tell us to bend over or else.

Eritrea was the most civilized nation until the Italians left. Had they stayed and had they not taken their expertise with them, it still would be civilized. When they left, they left behind abuse people, who were never allowed to go beyond 4th grade and historical enemies of the habesh people, as the Arabs call them, made sure they distroy the people's unity. Of course, Hailesselassie would never be recognized while Meles is in office. I just saw a clip about Meles's grand father being inaugurated by an Italian military officer to a prestigious position. Of course, his grand father was a traitor. Like grand father, like grand son. His revenge isn't done yet. Pretend like you hate Meles, and deep inside you know that no one has ever satisfied your evil side, like Meles Zenawi.

Colonialism has created a situation in the world of outsmarting those with none of that background. Anyway, we have to blame ourselves, as one person put it, we are the enemy of ourselves. As Eshetu Chole once said - organize, organize, organize - if we do this, then the rest will be history. Don't fight a by product of something, fight the root cause of the problem, which is disunity among us.
