Few major black models breaking barriers (perhaps so many barriers had already been broken). Tyra Banks was an exception, but it was not until the 2000s that the black supermodel began to rise again. Liya Kebede, born 3 January 1978 in Addis Ababa, was one of the leaders of this new generation. She quickly joined the upper echelons of modeling; in May 2002 VOGUE Paris featured Kebede on the cover and in four out of six of the articles. In 2003 she became the third "face" for ESTEE LAUDER, and the FIRST representative of color in the company's fifty-nine years. In 2005 Kebede was made a UN goodwill ambassador, and later that year was presented with the UN day award. In 2007 FORBES ranked her eleventh on its list of the fifteen top-earning supermodels' Kebede was the ONLY black woman listed.
Don't even get me started on how Sara Nuru was crowned Germany's Next Top Model. She beat the [deleted] out of all those Scandinavian&Slavic girls. Showed them how Ethiopian girls get down!
Oh how I'm proud how we have things to show and flaunt. Other people are just all talk. Ethiopian models, however, are internationally recognized. SO HATE ALL YOU WANT ON THEM BECAUSE THEY COULD CARE LESS WHAT YOU THINK.
