Isaias Afewerki would like us and the world to believe that there is no starvation in Eritrea and the people are enjoying unprecedented peace.
But then, when asked to implement the Constitution and reinstate the Hagerawi Baito ( National Congress), he turns around and tell us Eritrea is a War Situation.
Obviously, this is a logical contradiction. Peace and War cannot coexist at the same time and in the same space. They are mutually exclusive. Only a deranged mind can conjecture up such outrageous scenario.
The truth is Eritreans are starved and depressed, I have seen it with my own eyes, as evidenced by:
The sunted growth of many children; the only ones who are making it narrowly are those who have family members in the Diaspora;
The number of beggars, adults and small children, roaming urban and semi-urban places, unprecedented and uncharacteristic of Eritreans;
The number of shabby and petty retailers who are crisscrossing the countery in search of meagre daily sustenance. Travel around country by public buses to witness the injustice first hand. Add to this injustice the fact that the Transportation System of the Country is a nightmare. Not that the number of buses are not enough but the administration and managment is the worst of its kind. "Time" has no meaning over there. There are no schedules. The people are crowded and crowded at the Bus Station, waiting and waiting for hours and hours and the buses are crowded too but wait and wait for the indolent State Bureaurocrat to pick and choose which one of the buses to leave. Once the crowds get the information, they storm the Bus like an avalanch. Whoever is the strong gets the seat, and others have to resign themselves to the never ending wait gain and gain. It is a complete travesty of Justice. I tested the poison myself Frist Hand.
The number of people going to Churches have grown as never before, a clear sign of hopelessness and depression. It used to be on Sundays and some holidays and in the morning, but this time, it is everyday and throughout the day.
When Isaias Afewerki makes the outrageou claim that Eritreans are not starved and are enjoyng unprecedented peace ,comes to my mind what the innocent French princess, after watching the hungry French women Chanting "Bread, Bread, Bread, inquired her servant, " Why Don't They Eat Cake If They Can't Find Braed ?"
Isaias Afewerki lives a kind of luxury even the aforementioned French princess never dreamt of. He owns the people, the wealth and appropriates them in accordance with his whims. Nobody dares asks a question. He is a Monarch, although not yet crowned, with Absolute Power.
To suit his purpose, he has divided the country into four Chiefdoms, each of which is ran by a Military Lord, responsible only to him. The Military Lord is vested with a power to dispense injustice the way that promotes his own and of his Boss. The rest, EriTve takes care of them, specially when it comes to emotionally defrauding the Diaspora gullibles. The people's concern or plight is out of the question. They are disposable.
If you have noticed, he always qualifies his claims of peace in Eritrea with ......."But if there is no peace in Ethiopia......."
