Ethiomedia | Feb 23, 2012
WASHINGTON, DC - Tamagn Beyene, a prominent Ethiopian human rights activist, has asked Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to release Col. Bezabih Petros, a senior Ethiopian fighter pilot who was captured by Eritrean forces when his MiG-21 fighter interceptor was shot down during the start of the 1998-2000 War.
The audience expressed full support for Tamagne's request by according the activist a standing ovation. This is the first official request from the Ethiopian Diaspora for Asmara to release the pilot jailed since 1998.
I hope the President for life KIbur Issaias do something about this issue.
