Why Somalia is finally rising from ashes

Postby Senait » 25 Feb 2012, 13:43

Somalia is lately rising and the reason is none other than the Arab spring. The fall of Ghadaffi and Mubarek
has dried up the cash Isayas was using to bank-roll Al-shabab. No wonder Alshabab is now disintegrating under a relentless assualt
from Ethiopia, Amisom and Kenya. It is amuzing to see askarian losers helplessly watch from a distance while
their grand project is collapsing in front of their eyes!

And I have no idea why international media keeps claiming 'failed Ethiopian invasion of 2006'? It was the Ethiopian invasion which made
the deployment of AMISOM possible in 2007. Without Ethiopia chasing out the Islamic courts, the AU would have no chance
to deploy anything in Mogadishou and Somalia would have under firm control of the Islamists by now. People should give credit
where credit due. The turn around we observe in Somalia's fortunes today were made possible by Ethiopia's decissive action in 2006
and failing to recognize it is either ignorance or deliberate attempt to revise history.

KABUL, Afghanistan – The Taliban announced Tuesday that they will open an office in the Persian Gulf nation of Qatar to hold talks with the United States, an unprecedented step toward a peace process that might lead to a winding down of the 10-year war in Afghanistan.

Although U.S. and Taliban representatives have met secretly several times over the past year in Europe and the Persian Gulf, this is the first time the Islamist insurgent group has publicly expressed willingness for substantive negotiations.

In recent months, the idea of a Taliban political office in the Qatari capital of Doha has become a central element in U.S. efforts to draw the insurgents into such talks. The idea is to give the Taliban more legitimacy to negotiate in a location that presumably would at least partly shield them from Pakistani pressure.

Asked about the Taliban announcement, White House spokesman Jay Carney welcomed "any step ... of the Afghan-led process toward reconciliation." He noted that "peace cannot come to Afghanistan without a political settlement."

Why do woyanes lie so much ?

Speaking while answering questions from MPs in Ethiopian parliament late last month, Meles Zenawi said that Ethiopia was "forced" to deploy its troops in Somalia.

On casualties, Zenawi said "regarding the details on those killed or wounded in Somalia, I think the House does not need to know about how many were killed or wounded in every military confrontation. I also think that I do not have an obligation to present such report."

We understand why Zenawi doesn't want to make public the horrifying 170,000 casualty figure Ethiopia suffered during the 1998-2000 war with Eritrea. But what we don't understand is why he doesn't want to release the casualty figure Ethiopia suffered in Somalia. Zenawi said he was "forced" to invade Somalia. Well...who forced him? Who twisted his arms to order his Tigrayan war generals march poor Amhara and Oromo young soldiers into Somalia at gunpoint ?

WikiLeaks Reveals U.S. Twisted Ethiopia's Arm to Invade Somalia

By Rob Prince, December 8, 2010

Already tied up wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. had no position to openly launch large-scale attack against Somalia and had to sponsor a country like Ethiopia.

One of the released WikiLeaks cable implicates then US Under Secretary of State for Africa, Jendayi Frazer, in pressing Ethiopia's President Meles Zenawi to invade its neighbor. The content of the cable is being widely discussed in the African media. It exposes a secret deal cut between the United States and Ethiopia to invade Somalia.

Ethiopian troops invaded Somalian territory on July 20, 2006. Reports say an estimated 20,000 Somalis were killed and over 2 million were made homeless as a result of the US backed war in Somalia.

The TPLF erected this huge bronze monument in Mekelle, Tigray, fully paid by Ethiopian tax-payers, for the 60,000 TPLF fighters killed while fighting against the Ethiopian army.

What about a memorial monument for the hundreds of thousands of Ethiopian soldiers killed during the 1998-2000 war, or those killed during the 2006 invasion and occupation of Somalia ? Is this the monument the TPLF regime built for them ?

If it makes you happy, I know the casualty figure for the Isayas war of 1998-2000...Ethiopia sadly lost 14,350 soldiers during the two years...Askaria adimitted
it lost only 20,000 but the truth of the matter is that it lost more than double that amount...you know the reason but just to remind you, in every front the rIsayas' ragtag militias were hit from behind while they were expecting our forces to confront them in the baracks...to make matters worse, the airspace was completely under the control of the Ethiopian airforce which mercilessy mowed down the fleeing shabia militia in their droves...stop fabricating fictional casualty figures and swallow the bitter truth.

LOL!! Is that what they told at the cadre seminar? Do you know that so many Eritrean soldiers burned their hands because they fired them for so long mowing down innocent young Oromos and Amharas? Add a zero to your number and you will be accurate.

The biggest fan of Al Shabbab is Meles who gets to claim he is fighting terrorism and present himself as willing servant to terrorism obsessed USA in exchange for politcal support and aid. The end of Al Shabbab will be welcomed by everyone else.
