Zenawi worried that he's losing his "bread and butter" in Somalia

Postby revolutions » 25 Feb 2012, 17:35

Some countries attending the UK conference on Somalia want to see the complete annihilation of the Al-shabab group, and rightfully so. However, the genocidal dictator Meles Zenawi is not happy to see the Somali militants he himself had created in 2005 to go away, for he stands to lose a significant chunk of the Aid money he receives in the name of fighting his boyz.

Ethiopia’s Leader Not Happy with London Conference Outcome

London (Sunatimes)At the end of Thursday’s Somalia-focused conference in London’s Lancaster House, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Meles Zenawi aired his opinion to a crowd of international and Somali journalists. It was the first time he had spoken on the conference since the run-up to its date of opening.

The prime minister said the following on the conference.

"We hope that the outcome of the conference bears positive results for the Somalis, but we’ve also heard that a final communique was prepared before the conference had even ended."

Later, Zenawi stated that he didn’t expect this conference to change anything for Somalia. He added that the various power brokers in attendance had varying agendas for Somalia’s future that did not correlate at any level. Ethiopia is estimated to have over 5,000 soldiers inside Somalia, having recently taken the strategic Somali cities of Baidoa and Beletweyn from Al-Shabaab militias.

During the conference, Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed gave a nearly hour-long speech to international delegates, and in the beginning he stated that Somalia’s future would not be dictated by Ethiopia, and it is likely that Zenawi did not take liking to this new direction Somalia may be taking.

I did not expect anything positive from the news report, but I expected some commonsense from Revolutions. Especially the case of Somalia, let's see what happened in Somalia in the past five years, the conses of all the Somali forces accepted the supreme of the Islamic Union Court, hence things were getting in line accordingly forming government to suit Somalia. Six months down the road the administration at the time (most anti Islamic administration ever) decided to disturb the peace through a hit man in the region. Look what happened since, the Somalis are embittered because of that experience, the least the current administration can do is go the extra mile to make Somalia a one country by including those that were pushed out. Instead you are suggesting Prime Minister Cameron is on the right path to eliminate Al-Shabab.

We must not forget they come from the leader of Somali at the moment, Sheik Sharif. He is the one that established Al-Shabab and now he likes the money from Whites he betrays his colleagues. In light of that understanding and five years of chaos, I am not sure your recommendation is fair and balance. Include those that have come to power with the permission of many Somalis. Sometimes we have to say the truth, even when its uncomfortable, and unpopular. Let's say Alshabab did the samething they did in 2007, melted into society and raise arms later doing harms to civilians like Iraqis are doing. Does that mean we made peace in Somalia? NO!, the best thing to do is to include everyone from the get go, so they do not have futrure problems.

The London Conference was significant, because for the first time it brought together all the international players who have a stake in Somalia, but have been hiding their hand.

Secondly, it was an acknowledgement of an important fact — the African Union through its peace-enforcement force Amisom (comprising Uganda and Burundi forces), Kenya, and Ethiopia, had broken the back of what the world had come to view as an intractable problem.

Useless leaders such as Isayas Afebushti of Eritrea will have to stand on the sidelines and watch as events unfold. PM Meles has already warned the malaria infected dictator that any support to terrorists Al Shabaab by Eritrea will be considered as an attack on Amisom.

Yoha,
If you have noticed there are cards placed on the floor for each delegate. The only one without the card, as far as I can tell is the British PM, the host was placed in the center and all the Gingeros were to his left, right and back. What i want to know is the basis for the placement of each Gingero.
