Meke, are you sure you cried?

I cannot see heart breaking stuff...I really do not want to ruin my day... One thing we should notice is that Weyanes and tigreans are responsible for all the mess we are in. They will pay back .

First of all, this does not look real. I cannot imagine normal people to be treated in this way, and no evil would treat normal and capable people like the one shown in the video, WHY WOULD THEY? The women you see are separated from each other and from the other group, which suggests they may not be feeling well, I am not saying their mental breakdown is not caused by the abuse they experienced, as a matter of fact, we do not know how these women came up to be where they are. They could well be sold by Azeb Mesfin and Meles Zenawi, but politics aside, we know nothing from this video clip. Just like many previous misleading video clips this could be another misleading video. This is not as clear cut as Trayvon Martin's murder captured over a telephone.

I understand, if the argument is why are more women sent to countries that continue to treat women in this way. But we cannot let our emotion dictate our rationality and take it out on each other. A migrant is like a fallen leaf from a tree and would experience many hardships. Heck, we are all in the same boat, the only difference is we are in the eye of the storm as oppose to these women feeling the power of the vortex. Again, stop labeling people and work toward halting the maid trading, for the ones sent are not faring well. The nations they are sent to serve do not have freedom for their citizen let alone to afford one to desperate migrant workers.

I am saddened with the video where the women are thrown around in such a horrific manner. Besides, the recorder does not say anything, he does not say where, when and why, so it makes everyone's opinion nothing more than speculation. It pains me like everyone here for the women look like us and could well be our blood sisters, but emotion aside we need to know more about their individual cases. The case of Alem Dechasa is a clear example, her employer blamed her of attempted suicide and he caught her two-three times trying to end her life. At the end of the day, she did end her life in the manner he charged her. Could this be murder? I am not sure, but having to kill oneself in hospital is more plausible than homicide without making noise to wake the other patients around her bed.

This is from the group.

Three weeks ago, an Ethiopian girl from Riyadh contacted us through our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/EthioRevolution2011) and left her contact information. We called her right away because her message seemed urgent. When she told us the story, we could not believe it. She began her story by telling us that she went to a place to visit her friends. She saw six Ethiopian girls who had gone mad and one girl who was blinded by her employer. She asked some of the people around about the girls and what had happened to them. They said that these women were abused and neglected. One of the girls who seemed to have gone mad, used to work for a Saudi police officer as a house maid. One day, he came home with his 5 officer friends; they raped and beat her over and over again. Since that night, her behavior completely changed and she is showing signs of great distress and mental illness. She is only 17 years old.

It would be complete ignorance and stupidity to think that such atrocities are isolated incidences and uncommon. We have heard about numerous cases like these and even far worse. The statistics are clear as well. This is torture of innocent Ethiopian women by barbaric Arabs on a very large scale. Yet, our equally barbaric regime has made agreements to export 45,000 Ethiopian women per month to Arab countries as slave maids.

What are they? Cattle? Where is the humanity? We, as Ethiopians, have not done nearly enough to stop this mass torture and murder and so we are equally to blame. We are completely bogged down in old politics and political bickering. I'm blaming me! I'm blaming you. Yes, you, the one who is reading this story and not doing anything about it.

Three days after our first contact in Riyadh told us this story, we contacted her again and this time, she was with two friends, a guy and a girl. We asked them to return to the place and take pictures or video if possible and send it to us. We received this video yesterday from another source. We are not sure if this is the same place and the same girls, but I think the video shows everything we needed to see. Hopefully, they will be sending us new videos and audio files soon.

I'm ashamed as an Ethiopian because we couldn't help our people when they were killed and treated like this. These girls are driven by poverty to work in these countries and are given the promise that they will be paid well. They have absolutely no clue about the sad and dangerous life that awaits them in Arab countries and our regime does everything to hide the truth in order to profit. If a government treats its own people like cattle, why would foreigners with no morals feel obliged to treat them like humans?

They wouldn't treat an american or a citizen of other countries like this because there are consequences. The problem is that there are no consequences for beating and raping and treating ethiopians like that in the Middle East.

We Ethiopians MUST wake up, take initiative and care for each other because no one else is looking out for our best interest.

With great regret and sadness,
