First of all, the husband who is crying is nothing but a [deleted] a smelly [deleted] that is, how in the earth can he allow his wife to depart to foreign country to work while he is healthy and sound?...I might understand if he was disabled for sick but the man is healthy and sound. I just feel sorry for Alems children but this [deleted] can burn in hell for all i care.

Last year I was severely derided by so many for saying the same thing. Ethiopia is a fertile land, plenty of water. It is easy to grow onions, tomatoes, lentils, potatos, as well as grain like teff or wheat. Why in heaven's name are able bodied women selling themselves to horrific slavery in racist Lebanon instead of getting together to create farm coops in Ethiopia. It is far easier and far more dignified to slave for your own stomach than to cruel and racist Lebanese.

It's really just a case of putting yourself in their shoes for a moment and ask yourself how would you have handled the situation if you were a father of two children and facing a critical decision on whether your wife goes to Lebanon to work as maid and feed your children, or watch them starve to death ?

I can understand why people are angry about the husband's infidelity while Alem was working abroad. But it's a little far-fetched to accuse him of staying at home to care for their two children while she was working as maid in Arab countries, especially when we know all too well that Arabs don't hire men as maids. Alem's family, like millions of other Ethiopian families, were facing economic hardship, and the only available means of escaping poverty in Ethiopia is to migrate to other countries and make money in order to help the struggling families back home. It's either that or work on one of Al-amoudi's rice plantations in Ethiopia for slave wages.

Its a natural instinct parents have to sacrifice themselves for their children. And that's exactly what Alem did for her two kids, and unfortunately she was forced to pay the ultimate sacrifice. R.I.P.

Mr revolutions, let me ask you this? What happened to the old-fashioned idea of growing your own food, as in farming? Why is he too lazy to grow potatoes?

It would have been better if he had become Al Amoudi's slave than to sell his wife to Lebanese slave drivers.

Its a natural instinct parents have to sacrifice themselves for their children. And that's exactly what Alem did for her two kids, and unfortunately she was forced to pay the ultimate sacrifice. R.I.P.

She also became a warning to other foolish women who are contemplating selling themselves to Lebanese slavery.

It is very important not to cover up the mistakes of women like Alem, people look at her suffering and death and see it as a personal tragedy. It is a lot more than that, it is a shame, a humiliation for all Ethiopians. When she calls herself an Ethiopian and willingly sells herself into slavery so that her family can have US dollars to buy electronics with, she is humiliating us all. It wasn't hunger that drove her to slavery, because hunger drives people to farming. It isn't so difficult to grow vegetables such as spinach and cabbage, I have done it even as a child. It is infinitely better to simply grow whatever plants you can grow and eat them raw than to enter the hellish life of Lebanese slavery. Taking personal responsibility must not be discounted.

Although she is clearly a victim, she and her family should take part of responsibility if we are to be honest. I would compare it to someone who goes walking alone in the middle of night in dangerous neighborhood and gets attacked. The attackers are still criminal and the victim is a victim but also must be reprimanded for engaging in risky behavior.

Even the callous Weyane government has banned them going as maids to Lebanon but the allure of quick riches is too much. This man (who did not even marry her BTW so not really husband) could find some land to farm, learn new techniques and at least feed and clothe his children and partner. Instead he sent her off to send him easy money.

To what audience did you say what you claim here to have said? Did your message reach your target audience? If not, did you fail to teach them what you claim here to have said? If that is the case, you are simply a hypocrite here who is trying to victimize the victim. This family is an example of the people who sent us to school to get education and pay them back. We failed them.

For your information, here is more detail about the condition of the family, if you haven't read it in the article: "Alem and Lemesa lived in Addis Ababa for nine years but eventually could not afford the rent there and moved to Burayu. Things got no better, and they decided that Alem would go to Lebanon. 'We got the idea from our neighbours … Almost everyone is going to work abroad … So if everyone is doing it, we thought we should give it a try … She said she would work very hard and return,' said Lemesa."

Even if your message reached them, did they have a land to plant on?

I was only talking about my attempt to convince the readers here that we can't blame everything on Woyane, the people must take responsibility for their actions.

A man who has the minimum dignity will not send his wife abroad to work and feed him, it simply is inexcusable. I don't blame the woman, but the husband is a man without honor. If he can't feed his family he shouldn't have been married in the first place.

Even if your message reached them, did they have a land to plant on?

They could have gone back to their ancestral village if they weren't infected with the metropolitan virus.

And this was from your earlier post in this same thread.
