Five killed as Ethiopian Muslim protests continue
By Yuunus Hajji Mul’ataa | April 28, 2012

The Future Way
Many Ethiopian Muslim scholars say the government is taking the country to a very troublesome situation. “The Ahbash faction”, they explain “is a well-known extremist group in the Muslim world. There is no peace where this deviant sect has reached. Its pro-west stance doesn’t mean it can tolerate other religious groups. In addition to its deviance, it teaches that stealing and looting of the properties of non-Muslims are lawful practices. If it is left on the leadership of the Majlis, we fear it may create a big tension between Ethiopian Christian and Muslim peoples. We ask the government to hear our voice urgently”.
The Muslim scholars’ fear is also shared by many political commentators who say “The government of EPRDF has planned to leap the country to a developed nation. But it can’t go too far by neglecting the voice of the mass. Religious extremism has never been the problem of our country. It is only some shortsighted advisers of the government who proposed the importation of a controversial faction of Ahbash to combat what they called ‘Wahhabism’. So it is highly essential for the government if it thinks for a while and revises its ill planned Ahbashism Campaign”.

Mr. Shigute, do you know that farmers form Amhara, Sidama, Wolaita, or Kafficho have similar interests and wishes regardless of their ethnic background? Do you know that north, south, east or west, we are all Ethiopians and we live in the context of each other? Do you know that we are diverse and yet one and many and yet indivisible? Do you really know this? May be you don’t and this alone explains your hollowness.

Mr. Shigute is anything but hollow, he can't afford to host fast breeding Amharas on his ancestral land. If he is silent, sooner or later his people will be displaced. It's one thing to hate Woyane, but we have to be fair to the inddigenous people who are concerned about their future. History is replete with indigenous races who disappeared because they were displaced by fast breeding settlers.

OJ, insulting me is not going to address the problem of Amhara irresponsibility when it comes to population and environment. The Amharas are too lazy to plant trees in their own land, and when someone tries to address the issue by planting trees they will not permit the trees to grow, they will cut them down while young for magedo. Such irresponsible behavior needs to be criticized. Today there are a lot of Amhara men and women who need surgical intervention to stop their irresponsible breeding patterns, but with blind people like you how can this problem be solved?

By the way, a racist is someone that encourages you while you are headed over a cliff, not someone who warns you.

Mr. OJ you tell me to go home, but you are upset because Mr. Shigute told the Amhara settlers to go home.

OJ you are too emotional to see the problem, planting a few token trees because the kebele told is not going to solve the environmental devastation in the Amhara homeland due to deforestation. It takes a lot more than a few trees to to cover the hundereds of thousands of sq. km. of land that have been denuded due to the selfishness of past Amhara generations. They cut down the trees without planting, they were only thinking of their own immediate needs, not the needs of the future generations.

The evidence shows they are not planting trees, that's why there are no forests in the Amhara homelands.
