Addis Ababa, June 4 (WIC) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a message extended congratulations to his Ethiopian counterpart, government and nation on the African country's national day.
In his message to Ethiopian President Grima Woldegiorgis on Saturday, the Iranian president expressed the hope the rich cultural and historical background of Iran and Ethiopia would prepare the ground for using the existing potentials for further expansion of mutual ties.
Tehran has prioritized promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union's strategic partners.
Tehran's efforts to boost ties and cooperation with Africa have led to its acceptance as an observing member of the African Union (AU), where it has shown an active presence in the AU summit meetings. (FNA)
