Issaise’ disappearance from the public and the rumor of his sickness were efficiently exploited by Ali Abdu of Eritrea. In Fact the whole episode was a resounding propaganda success for PIA of Eritrea. Many supporters of the president are mocking the Eritrean opposition groups for their premature jubilation on the president’s death. The president re-appreance was a huge blow to the credibility of the Eritrean opposition media. Bereket Simon of Ethiopia is attempting to score same points against ETHSAT and Ethiopian opposition media by spreading rumor that Meles has travelled to Belgium for medical reasons and also hiding him from public eye.
It is seems ETHSAT is also playing in Meles’ hand by dancing to Bereket’s tune –i.e., by reporting about his health and his failure to appear on live TV during the parliament meeting. Meles’ operatives will do their utmost to spread the rumor about his health and disappearance from the public eye and later have him make a “heroic return” to mimic his role mode PIA of Eritrea.
