I have met scores of Eritreans from tigrigna beher, and so far none of them had said they are part of the ethnic group in Tigray. They say the share certain aspects of life much like they share other tribes in their surroundings. The fact that 99.9% went for independence and their unhidden attitude towards Tigrayans says it all that these two are two separate entities that have never been one and will never be one.

I don't see an Oromo from Wollega showing attitude towards an Oromo to Bale or an Amhara from Gonder showing animosity to an Amhara to Wollo or Shoa. or an afar from Eritrea or Djibuti showing animosity to an Afar in Ethiopia. Not to the liking of Belaynesh and Revelation, Eritrean Tigrigna didn't want any association with Tigray people

The two groups are like the Amharas, who live in different provinces Gojam, Gonder and wello. They may have slight differences in their accent, culture etc, but over all they are the same people. Oh, and the wellega Oromos think they are the cream of the crop of all oromos.

Prior to Italy colonization of Eritrea their tigre brothers in ethiopia were the movers and shakers of eritrea, Eritrea was practically run but EthiopianTigres untill the Italians came to Eritrea and the tide turns in favor of eritreans .

I can understand the low lander eris claim having little or no kinship to ethiopian tigres. after all It was them who started the eritrean independence struggle while the overwhelming majority of highlanders wanted integration with ethiopia.

There is a distinctive population that is known as Proto-Tigray and Proto-Amhara who was responsible for Axumite civilzation. you are just calling locations like adulis and Dimt to justify your cause. Read history and come back. Eritrean population was a mere 500,000 one hundred years ago when the Italians set foot. If you go back to 2,000 years ago, that number is logically will be less than 10,000 and a population of 10,000 wouldn't form a wereda let alone an empire like axum.

I used to think the same way. But the facts on the ground show a different story. Yes there are smaller entities in Amhara group usually known as Gonderes, Gojjame, shoa and wolloye. But you don't see such animosity to the point of slurs and derogatory words against each other. Infact, you often here songs from all those regions praising the beauty of one another in a form of complements. You don't see that between the subject topic (Tigray and beher-Tigrigna). And we know the colonial era has ended long time ago. but the attitude is the same. this shows the psycological differences between the two people

For Tigrayans ruling over Eritrean-Tigrigna, yes i do agree it was often that case. But In Eritrea, there was a governership called Behir-Nigus that paid the same tribute to the central government and in those medieval times, both Tigray and Eritrea did have governors who often pay tax for the Emperors at Gondar. The one in Eritrea (Bahir-Nigus) was ended by Sersa-Dingil when the king of Bahir-Negus collaborated with Turkey against Abyssinia ending that system there forever. It was after that war lords from Tigray start to rule over Eritreans
