Tesfaye, 18, has been charged with murder. He was also wanted for a Sept. 4 armed robbery in which he is accused of taking an Apple iPhone and $250 at gunpoint.

On Tuesday, police said, English was walking with friends in a residential neighborhood near Lithonia when someone in a black vehicle pulled up and started shooting. English was hit and staggered to the next street, where residents tried – unsuccessfully, according to Channel 2 Action News – to call for help through 911 before driving him to the hospital.

English died before he reached the hospital.

Tesfaye is being held at the DeKalb County jail on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records .

He has been arrested three times before this year for burglary, disorderly conduct and failure to appear in court for another charge, jail records showed.

Tragedy and shame

Postby Gigi » 15 Sep 2012, 07:56

What a tragedy and lose,

Eventhoug it's a great lose a young Ethiopian who could have contributed greatly for his community and to the country we should not forget, this is unacceptable that anyone that committe crime should be condemn immediatly. No one that is criminal should not be supported or embraced by us. This will reflect on our community we'll lose our hard earned good name with bad apples like this young man.

Parents are also have a great role to play and responsibilities. They have to raise their children around church in good maners where the children can be good citizens. It's a shame and a tragedy for us also a burden when one committe a crime we all are affected by it.

This is not our culture and whatever the background is; poverty is not a reason to committe a crime. This is a country one can work and earn to acquire the material thing it needs. But why being materialistic what's a piece of shiny material at the end of the day. That's not going to make you a better person. What's great is if you have free time to involve in community service learn how to be humble, go to school and learn the skills you need if you can't work hard and earn your money.
Why the parents early on didn't inform the authorities to get help, our churchs and ESAT can arrange programs and bring experts to advise parents to find a way to seek where to turn a time of crisis and information on early sign of troubled teenage boys and girls. Prevention methods.

You need to know where about of your child, you're responsible where you kids spend time and who they associate with. They are not only hurting you their action hurt society. There is no excuse the majority of the burden is in a family, regardless how good we are it's difficult to raise a teenage but we have to be a part of their life and know what's going on with them.

Our churches should get involved they should care more and take responsibility in ways where churches can help in shaping a good community that's strong its faith and community. We can learn from our wester christian churches learning good things doesn't change who we are it'll better our communities. We can't just pray and go home God will take care it all churches can have youth associtation where they can't learn to learn from other kids and study their bible and find good friends. Learn how to respect elders and others.

We have to be our brothers keeper we need to care more and if we see one doing a condumn act we need to help to correct it. Those bad actions have consequences...as

God Bless you All!
We need to pray for all families involved and for our community
