Ethiopian embassy in Somaliland is suspected of human trafficking

Postby Yusuf » 17 Feb 2013, 01:52

Last week, on the outskirts of the Ethiopia-Somaliland border town of Wajale, Somaliland police officers Hussein Dahir and Abdirashid Mohamed Mahmoud sustained bullet inflicted injuries on the knee and thigh respectively after Ethiopian border guards opened fire on them. The Somaliland officers were in pursuit of smugglers and human traffickers.

While this is the first incidence of its nature to ensue between security forces of the two neighboring countries, cross border smuggling of illicit drugs and Human cargo from Ethiopia to Somaliland is on the rise.

Almost every week the Somaliland police force is reporting arrest of drugs smugglers and their illicit cargo, prompting some news organizations to suspect the possibility of involvement by the Ethiopian Embassy personnel in Hargeisa.

This accusation was refuted by Gen Tesfaye Berhe, Ethiopian ambassador in Somaliland, who upon informing that they were in the country to enhance bi-lateral relations, asked the government to investigate the issue, which the Ambassador claimed was as a result of propaganda by enemies of the two countries.

ethiopia apologizes for border shooting. This was informed by the Ethiopian Ambassador to Somaliland General Berhe Tesfaye during a meeting with Vice president Hon Abdirahman Sayli at the presidency in Hargeisa. The police officers who had mistakenly strayed into Ethiopia while in pursuit of suspected smugglers were themselves shot at after being suspected smugglers by the Ethiopian security officers. While terming the incidence as unfortunate Ambassador Tesfaye told VP Sayli that intensified anti-smuggling surveillance by both countries need to be coordinated thus deter similar incidences in the future.

Somliland just watch out wayani don't like an peaceful country around hourn Africa they have an intarast and banfit like the Weastern by starting some conflict this just a start woria.

This is not an apology and any person with basic common sense would simply add the dots. First of all this Tigray man is no "ambassador" please learn the definition of the term before you separatists throw it around.

Ethiopia does not recognize the three villages as a state but as a region part of Somalia. It also has similar office in Puntland region. For Ethiopia there is no difference between the office in Garowe and Hargeisa. Both of these offices are basically designed for misleading low self esteem people like the separatists. An apology from unofficial "ambassador" is no official apology from Ethiopia but I know this is enough to please the grieving "victims".

Somaliland should unite with Somalia to form a greater Somali republic, Djibouti should join to.

It’s well known that, Tigrains are busy with drug business, human trafficking and looting everything in the Horn of Africa. See the Tigray Toyota Land Cruiser coming from Hargaisa and going to Libya and also illegal trade – big cargos and Lorries from Hargaisa to many towns in Ethiopian (Except the towns in Somali region / Ogaden), which are owned by Tigray business men and officials. They carry trade or contrabands, and also illegal people and migration from Somalia to Sudan and Libya.

Kibur President Ahmed Mahamoud Silanyo, you should protect your people and country, and take actions against EPRDF regime. Remember, they were against you and your people in the past. Therefore, never trust Tigray politicians who kiss children and women, whose eyebrows meet in the middle.

"...Eyebrows" Very interesting preference. In Tanzania, people with faire skin colour(Albinos) are often hunted and killed by local witch doctors who think that fair cloured persons are God given life saving medicinal raw amterials while being regarded by some Ethiopians and fillipinos as the ultimate desirable superior human race with excellent feature. No wonder that Africa is being ruled by ignorant and superstitious medieval tyrants with hopeless and divided bickering oppositions offering no hope either. Now I must hide my white Dog whose eyebrows meet because he might be in double jeopardy, though depending on where he is and where he is not. :P
