Aba Diabilos shuts down Holy Trinity College

Germany Radio (DW) reports that the administration of Ato GebreMedhin (formerly Aba Paulos, who is also known as Aba Diabilos) has shut down the Holy Trinity College in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa after students complained that, among other things, the food they are served is poisoned.

Ato Gebremedhin is a Woyanne cadre who was installed as Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church by Meles Zenawi’s Marxist junta to systematically destroy the 2000-year-old Church.

In solidarity with the Addis Ababa Holy Trinity College, students at the Kisate Berhan College of Theology in Mekele have boycotted classes.

All homes opposite Mega building to be demolished
    By Solomon Bekele
In a meeting held at Abiot Irmija school hall on Friday, November 19, residents of Kirkos Sub City, former Woreda 18 Kebele 27, renamed as Woreda 1, were told that the entire area will be demolished within the coming two to three months.
The school hall was full to capacity. Residents of the Woreda 1 who live in their private houses, Kebele and Rental Houses expressed great disappointment and discontent against the demolition project scheduled to start in such a short time. Jemal Salah, the General Manager of the Kirkos Sub City told residents that there is no need to panic with this announcement.
“The city has undertaken a thorough study of the implementation of the project. Private house owners are given three options. People who have the capacity to build up to four stories are allowed to do so in their respective areas. Others can be given compensation along with land in other areas. People with low income are eligible for condominiums constructed by the city government,” he explained. He further said that all this will be done in consultation with the residents.
One resident complained that the compensation that was given in other areas was not enough to construct even a small house. “This is no exception. You said we are allowed to build in our Kebeles if we have the capacity, but in practice this has never been the case,” he said challenging the idea forwarded by the General Manager.
The meeting, organized with short notice, was the first meeting of the Sub City with its residents on the issue, Capital learnt. It was said that shortly, a series of meetings will be held with the private house owners, the Kebele and Rental houses residents separately.
In total, 12 hectares of land will be cleared for the development project,. According to Tamirat Tesfaye, General Manager of Woreda 1, most of the residents are private house owners.
Capital has learnt that if things go smooth all the 257 families of this Woreda will leave the area by August 2011.
“We expect demolition will start in the coming two to three months. This is our third project. We have successfully carried out the first and the second projects, close to the Sunshine Head Office and behind Estifanos church, respectively. The panic that you have observed here is primarily due to the lack of understanding of the project and secondly this is our first consultation. For sure, things will get better when residents comprehend the project in our second and third meetings,” Tamirat said.
The Manager also said that no one will be forced to leave before receiving proper compensation. Despite Tamirat’s claim residents were suspicious that they will be thrown out of their houses without due consideration of the current housing problems.
“This is simply a new form of nationalization of our property. The former regime snatched our houses under the guise of serving the people. We were then considered to be ‘exploiters’. We did not have the power to resist that. And now they are taking our plots of land and houses under the guise of redeveloping them. In both cases we are the losers,” one old man who declined to give his name bitterly complained.
Capital understood that the old man’s three Villas were taken over through housing nationalization 37 years ago. For him the worst part is dislocation when he is physically weak due to his old age.

  2. Elias – please grow up! There are hundreds of foreign nationals who visit your site in searching of news about our beloved country. It is therefore necessary to take care of the image and name of our country. We Ethiopians never ever call our leaders, let alone the Head of our Holy Church a Devil. It is not scriptural (Biblical) or cultural to humiliate a Church leader. It doesn’t add any value to our struggle for the creation of a multiparty and democratic nation. You should sincerely appologise for such ungrounded accusation. It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not but, Patriarchy is an appointment from Above!
    Let God bless Ethiopia! Amen.

Aba Diablos must be excommunicated by the holy synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church.
Following the removal of his burden statue, the cadre “Patriack” is spoiling many things. Sadily he has the backing of Woyane military Junta. The statue is kept day and night by heavy armed soldiers.
The government of the Unbelievers(Woyane Junta)is doing every stone unturned to preserve the statue. Because Aba Diablos is the main collaborator of all evil doing in the country.

Although the holy synod unanimously decided to remove his statue, he is threathning the archbishops not to raise the issue at the front stage. he is attempting to bury down the decision by means of force. Therefore he begged the backing of the regime for cooperation. And the regime is in solidarity with the unbeliever of the Orthodox church.
This corrupt and moralless person is devastating the church as Judit Gudit was doing.

I say WUGUZ KEME ARIOS LE GEBRKE “ABA PAULOS”.

Fellow Ethiopians, may be the lack of unity between our politicians & the leaders of the oppositions is giving ways to other form of the democratic struggle we see in Ethiopia. These types of movements, from unexpected corners, are not a new phenomenon in history.

The religious movements against Meles Tyranny is showing in both followers of the two major religions. This is just another indication of the decay of the ethnic system of government which couldn’t even accommodate the basic needs of our society to have a freedom to worship, speak, gather without TpLf interference. The call for the memory of the 2005 martyrs during the “Great run” by distributing leaflets to the public is another form of this struggle.

History has taught us that these types of activites always make dictators feel powerless and lead them to more paranoia…..to the extent of not even trusting ” their own closest allies”. Dictator Meles is no exception, except that in his case, no one has been ab le to find the universal remedy to stop him from the desire to stay (rent seeking!) in power to the end!

It is very clear that the Meles regime is over prepared to handle any organized opposition of any sorts, but what it fear the most is a mass upheavel or a spontaneous movements of sort starting from any unexpected corners such as these types and spreading to all the corners of this nation.

These types of mass movements can not be easily handled by cadres or agazi soldiers since they are likely to join in the movements or run away for their lives.

In short, shuting down colleges or high schools may appear insignificant, however, in light of all our opposition leaders not agreeing to a UNITED FRONT, for such a LONG TIME, it has left the young generation with few choices of theirt own. Let us pray for them & hope for the best so that Meles will be the last dictator in Ethiopia & the rule of LAW will attract Ethipians from all the corners of the world to come back (with their remittance!) to work hard towards alleviating poverty and famine.

God/Allah bless Ethiopia & make us United for democracy & the rule of law

Ethiopians,May our dearest lord,God rain calamities upon the robbers who invaded our deareast homeland,Ethiopia.Amen.We believe God is running out of patients as Ethiopians are,and we believe God is ready to bring out time that brings victory upon our common enemy, the robbers.

Meles Naziawi and members of the crimefamily are the undisputed and uncontested super criminals;they shall receive humengous punishment tantamount to the weird and wicked crimes that have been committing since they invaded Ethiopia.

Gentle readers, imagine;more than half a centrury preparation to destroy Ethipia and more than a decade murdering and looting Ethiopians and Ethiopia;the robbers came into Ethiopia with the deepest dislike towards Ethiopians, but with a lot of guns and bullets to loot and murder Ethiopians, they were barefoot.

The robbers, time favored them and invaded Ethiopia;they did not waste time;they quickly scattered accross and allover Ethiopia;they moved into villages, towns, cities, and neighbourhoods and broke into homes and vandalized the lives of familie.

Today, these robbers have become super criminals of all sorts. The purpose of the coming of Aba Diabilos into our holy churches and monastories is seperate the believers from holy churches and gradually,to destroy what God and our blessed fathers and mothers passed onto us.Aba diabilos has been conceived and nourished in satan’s woumb and birthed in the wild and turned into devil.By day,he dresses in satan’s garments and spits filth upon the worshipers of God;by night,he is drunk and spleeps with wicked mistresses;he is an addict and a murderer and is armed and dangerious. The robber,Gabramadhin, nationally known as Aba Diabilos was trained in the wild by TPLF robbers and was released into Ethiopia to destory our religion under the direct leadership of Meles Naziawi, the fugitive.Aba Diabilos is nothing but the filth that comes out of Meles Naziawi’s sinky mouth and is a spit on the dirty floor. The dirty floor is the spot whre Aba Diabilos’s statue, once stands satanic and devlish.Aba Diabilos’s statue is ugly from the outside and hollow from inside;in it,there is nothing but evil and gods.

May our dear lord,God torn appart the roof from the floor and destroy the house of robbers;Amen.

Come on guy wake up! are you asking Elias to be an insensitive subservient and lame duck slave for a tiny minority brutal dictatorship who took over the entire country and its human and resources and keep mascaraing students, children, groups and other individuals for the purpose of sustaining one man one party power monopoly. And these including the other injustices and robberies like the 99.6% votes you call the good culture of your lovable country which Elias needs to respect just like those choiceless opposition cocktails down there?

“Patriarchy is an appointment from above” you said in your down right stupid devilish attempt to cheat. Some of those patriarchy guys do point to the high sky above just to cheat, loot and misappropriate the human and material resources of other people when innocent believers start looking up in to the high sky above with their hands raised high up above their heads. What kind of patriarchy and culture blesses the genocidal massacres of 200 students, thousands of innocent Amharas, Somalis, Oromos, etc?

What king of cunning gray Wolf dressed in smooth sheep skin are You? Kefo ras!

It has been years since Ethiopian Orthodox Church a place where “menafiqan” breed. This task was accomplished with direction of aba diablos. We know how he was when he used to live here in the U.S. He followed non of the churches doctrine. The man was doing every thing gamble, eat pork, had had girl friends. So how do you think this lucefer gets the resepect of Our church and its followers? Stop thinkiing with you know what.

    #3 Kewle, you are kewse.
Respect should be earned, not given. Aba Diablos is an arrogant and a coldhearted man who has kept quiet when innocent Ethiopians get abused, thrown in jail, and killed. Aba Diablose is a worldly man who align himself with drinkers, haters, tortures, looters and killers. He is a self-righteous man that is far from being a humble servant of God that cares for the poor.

  10. kewle,
are you serious? if he is not devil who is then? respect is erned not given by force. this man who you call holly man is an evil if not the devil himself is repsonsible for many crimes that was done withing the church. so do not blame Elias but the devil himself.

    You grow up first.

Kewle, I feel sorry for people like you. Now you are embarrassed, because Elias called the Woyane cadre Paulos diabolic, but never embarrassed before by what Abba Diabillo was/is doing to our country and the church. Why is your embarrassment in the reverse order?

The following sentence of yours says it all what a null you are. “It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not but, Patriarchy is an appointment from Above!”.

Above what? Your empty skull? You are one of those people whose brain is upside down for multiple reasons. Stop non-sense talking and tell your beloved patriarch to get lost as every one here. No body wants him. Don’t you get it????

  12. Kewle your unger and frustration should be directed at the regime and his servant Aba Diablos only. You sound inocent but you are more than that.We are not born yesterday.Saying Ethiopia Tikdem only by mouth does not add any value to Ethiopia that is bleeding under the brutal ethnocentric regime.

  13. Admonition for the Priests Malachi, O.T. The Bible.

“And now this admonition is for you, O priests. If you do not listen, and if you do not set your heart to honor my name,” says the Lord Almighty, “I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not set your heart to honor me. “Because of you I will rebuke[B]Or cut off (see Septuagint) your descendants[C]Or will blight your grain; I will spread on your faces the offal from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it. 4And you will know that I have sent you this admonition so that my covenant with Levi may continue,” says the Lord Almighty. “My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name. 6True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.
“For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction–because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty. 8But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,” says the Lord Almighty. 9“So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law.”

A Man From Whom Viruses Can’t Hide By CARL ZIMMER

Dr. W. Ian Lipkin was spending the afternoon prowling his empire of viruses. The Center for Infection and Immunity, which he directs, occupies three floors of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Rather than wait for the elevator, Dr. Lipkin ran up and down the back stairs to move from floor to floor, leaning into the doorways of labs and glass-walled offices to get updates from a platoon of scientists. Gustavo Palacios was sequencing the genes from a new strain of Ebola virus found in a bat in Spain — a worrisome development, since the fatal virus has almost never been found outside Africa. Nick Bexfield of the University of Cambridge had flown from England with a new hepatitis virus that has just broken out in British dogs. Some researchers were examining New York flu, others African colds. The blood of patients with mysterious, nameless fevers was waiting to be analyzed. There was dried African bush meat seized by customs inspectors at Kennedy Airport. Horse viruses, clam viruses: all told, members of Dr. Lipkin’s team were working on 139 different virus projects. It was, in other words, a fairly typical day. “We get 10,000 samples a year easily,” Dr. Lipkin said. “We’ve discovered at least 400 new viruses since I came to Columbia in 2002, and the process is accelerating.” Over the past 20 years, Dr. Lipkin has built a reputation as a master virus hunter. He has developed ways to quickly identify familiar viruses and ways to search for new ones. “If scientists are lucky, they’ll identify one novel virus in their whole life,” said Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. “Lipkin really stands out from the crowd.” The emergence of H.I.V. in the 1980s first drove Dr. Lipkin to search for viruses. At the time, he was a neurology resident at the University of California, San Francisco, and was watching many patients fall ill with AIDS. It took years for scientists to discover the virus responsible for the disease. Dr. Lipkin worried that in years to come, new viruses would claim more lives because of this lag. “I saw all this, and I said, ‘We have to find new and better ways to do this,’ ” Dr. Lipkin said. One reason that viruses can be so hard to find is that they’re so small — typically a few millionths of an inch across. Even the most powerful microscopes may not be able to reveal viruses if they’re lurking in a hiding place in the body. Sometimes scientists can detect viruses by rearing vast numbers of them in laboratories. It’s also possible to detect them by looking for antibodies in infected people. But these methods can be slow and unreliable. Dr. Lipkin thought it might be better to find viruses in a different way. He would go fishing for their genes. “It had never been done before, and it was an obvious thing to do,” he said. Dr. Lipkin’s first quarry was the cause of a bizarre disorder caused borna disease. Borna disease had first been discovered in horses in the late 1800s; it attacks their brains and causes them to flail uncontrollably. When scientists injected filtered brain extracts into healthy animals, they could develop the disease as well. Doctors worried that it might cross over into humans and have equally devastating effects. But no one had ever found a pathogen in an animal sick with the disease. If a virus was responsible for borna disease, Dr. Lipkin reasoned, he might be able to find its genes in an infected brain. He and his colleagues infected rats with the disease and then extracted genetic material from them. They first identified the pieces of DNA that came from the rats themselves. After they painstakingly subtracted the host genes, they were left with a small amount of genetic material present only in the sick rats. To see if these genes came from the cause of borna disease, Dr. Lipkin transplanted them into bacteria. The bacteria used them to make proteins. If these were proteins from the source of borna disease, then infected animals might have made antibodies precisely tailored to grab onto them. In 1990, Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues reported that when they mixed borna antibodies with the proteins, they embraced each other tightly. This discovery allowed Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues to isolate the virus, which came to be known as the borna virus. As Dr. Lipkin earned his reputation as a virus hunter, other researchers began to bring difficult cases to him. In 1999, for example, doctors noticed a cluster of cases of encephalitis around New York City. They shipped blood from their patients to Dr. Lipkin, who was then at the University of California, Irvine. Analyzing the genetic material, he and his colleagues concluded that the encephalitis had been caused by West Nile virus. It was the first time the virus had been identified in the Western Hemisphere. Since Dr. Lipkin made the discovery, West Nile virus has spread across the continental United States. Dr. Lipkin’s success with West Nile virus led to an invitation to come to Columbia in 2002 and set up the Center for Infection and Immunity. He and his colleagues began developing faster, more sensitive methods to find viruses. At the time, the most sophisticated technologies for identifying viruses could only compare their genetic material to one known virus at a time. Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues developed a more powerful system, known as MassTag PCR. The researchers prepare a cocktail of genetic material from 20 or more kinds of viruses. When they mix the DNA from a sample into this cocktail, the viral segments will bind to any matching DNA. Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues can then fish out these matching segments and shoot them through a mass spectrometer to determine their mass. From these clues, the scientists can often determine what kind of virus they’re dealing with. MassTag PCR is relatively cheap and fast, but it can miss viruses that are scarce or especially exotic. It failed, for example, to reveal the cause of three puzzling deaths in Australia. In 2006, three women received liver and kidney transplants from the same donor. For a month after the transplant, they were in good health, but then they all suddenly developed intense fevers and died. Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues analyzed samples from their bodies, but they couldn’t find any culprits with MassTag PCR. At the time, Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues were adapting new genome sequencing machines to virus hunting. They decided to turn the machines on this mystery. They gathered 100,000 genetic fragments from the three women and deciphered their sequences. Most of the sequences belonged to the patients themselves. But 14 out of the 100,000 sequences belonged to a new virus infecting all the women, which has been called the Dandenong virus after the hospital where the transplants took place. When Dr. Lipkin started finding viruses, the process was agonizingly slow. It took him three years to isolate the borna virus. Now it’s possible to identify new viruses in a matter of days. Dr. Lipkin and his colleagues are now working with the Department of Defense on even faster methods. In one recent exercise, researchers at the center were shipped two samples of genetic material. Each was a mixture of host DNA and the genes of a rare, dangerous virus. The researchers identified both viruses in six hours. Viruses don’t have to cause such horrific symptoms to have a major effect on people’s health. A number of studies indicate children are at higher risk of schizophrenia and autism if their mothers were infected by viruses during their pregnancy. “We think there may be a huge range of viruses involved,” said Mady Hornig, an epidemiologist at the Center for Infection and Immunity. Dr. Hornig, Dr. Lipkin and their colleagues are investigating the ways in which viruses alter the brains of fetuses. They’ve found that mice suffer similar changes in their behavior if their mothers are exposed to viral proteins. In a paper published last month in the journal mBio, the scientists report how these changes happen. In response to the viral protein, the mouse’s immune system produces molecules that alter certain stem cells in the fetal brain. “The stem cells are not maturing into neurons,” Dr. Hornig said. Now the Columbia scientists are exploring whether this same cause and effect is at work in humans. They are collaborating with researchers in Norway to track the health of more than 100,000 Norwegian children. As some of the children develop autism and other psychological disorders, the scientists will be able to look at blood samples taken from their mothers during pregnancy to see if viruses or other factors played a role. “We can go back and say, ‘What was going on in the first, second, third trimester?’ ” Dr. Lipkin said. Most babies born to infected women will not suffer any harmful effects from viruses, Dr. Lipkin said. Exactly why some babies do is the result of a complex interplay of genetic and environmental influences. Still, Dr. Lipkin thinks it’s wise for pregnant women to take precautions to avoid viral infections. “Our work suggests it is prudent for pregnant women to have influenza vaccines,” he said. Yet Dr. Lipkin does not think that viruses should be blamed for all our ills. In fact, he and his colleagues spend much of their time engaged in what he calls “de-discovery,” exposing false links made between viruses and diseases. “It’s important for the credibility of the field,” he said. A decade ago, for example, a British physician, Dr. Andrew Wakefield, claimed that vaccines against measles, mumps and rubella were linked to autism. One possibility he raised was that the live measles in the vaccines created inflammation in the intestines, allowing toxins or even viruses to move to the brain. One piece of evidence Dr. Wakefield and his colleagues offered was the finding that autistic children with intestinal disorders had high levels of measles viruses in their intestines. Many researchers have ruled out the vaccine-autism link by looking at the epidemiology of the disease. Dr. Lipkin decided to test the claim in a different way, by looking for the viruses themselves. Teaming up with some of Dr. Wakefield’s original collaborators, he found no difference in the levels of measles viruses in the intestines of autistic and normal children with gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Lipkin is now preparing to dive into a new controversy. In October 2009, a team of scientists claimed to find a virus known as XMRV in people with chronic fatigue syndrome. A pitched debate has arisen over the findings. A number of other groups have since failed to find the same link. To make matters more confusing, a team of researchers from the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health and Harvard Medical School reported in August that they found related viruses in people with chronic fatigue, but not XMRV itself. “I think we have to keep an open mind on this,” Dr. Lipkin said. In September, Dr. Fauci asked Dr. Lipkin to organize a large-scale investigation. Earlier this month, Dr. Lipkin brought together scientists from three labs that have gotten contradictory results to begin working together on a new search for the link. “There isn’t anybody any better at this than Ian Lipkin,” said Dr. Fauci. “If he can’t find it, it probably doesn’t exist.”
